How to Make Instant Pot Mashed Potatoes
It took a few months to get brave and get my Instant Pot out of the box, but now I’m loving it! I thought I’d show how easy and simple it is to make Mashed Potatoes in your Instant Pot. Perfect for Thanksgiving dinner when your oven and stove are busy cooking up other dishes! Super yummy too!
Check out my video to see how easy it really is!
Recipe:
8-10 Gold Yukon Potatoes
2 Tablespoons Butter
2 Tablespoons Sour Cream
1/2 cup – 1 cup Milk
Chives and other desired toppings.
Directions:
Add 2 cups water at the bottom of your Instant Pot
Add the stainless steel vegetable steamer
Add the peeled and cut potatoes
Close the lid and set the valve to “sealing”
Press the Manual Button then the +/- button until it gets to 8 minutes.
Let the potatoes do slow pressure release
Add the potatoes into a new bowl, add the butter, sour cream, milk and chives to the potatoes and mash with a potato masher.

Donnetta Byrd says
I have two pressure cookers. One is used for whatever we are having and the second is for side dishes (often mashed potatoes). I warm up the milk and butter in a pan while the potatoes are cooking so when I mix it all together the milk doesn’t cool down the potatoes. One of the family favorites is mashed potatoes in one pot and salt crusted pork in the other (something I used to make in the crockpot before the pressure cooker).
