*Thank you for sponsoring this post. Tried other diets? It’s time for Jenny Craig!
Some things in life you look forward to, like Hawaiian vacations and the 4th of July. Then there are some things you kind of sort of dread, like going to the dentist and turning 40. This was my year for turning the big 4-0, and I was quite honestly dreading it.
Then something happened last month that completely altered my outlook. I shared with you my scary resolve to finally lose 60 pounds that have accumulated over years of having five children, stressing about those children, and working to provide for those kids. In the past, I’ve tried diet after diet, with no real headway. Then I tried and everything changed
The Truth about Turning 40 and Losing Weight
Losing weight gets trickier the older you get when you’re battling a sleepy metabolism and hormone fluctuations. But the truth about turning 40 and losing weight is that you can do it! For me, turning 40 was like the night before the big Y2K scare: you dread the morrow and hope the world is still there. But when you wake up, birds are chirping and you realize, “Hey, I’m still me!” And not only did I feel the same, but I felt even better than before.
As of this morning, and after only one month, I’ve lost 16 lbs!* My clothes are getting baggy—time to go shopping!
I wake up with more energy, coast through my day with more positivity, and one of the biggest perks…I can fit into my wedding ring again after not being able to wear it for years! If I can do it, you can too! *. Members following the Jenny Craig program, on average, lost 1-2 lbs. per week. I received promotional consideration.
What I Love about the Jenny Craig Program
One of the greatest things I love about the Jenny Craig program is that I don’t have to think about what to eat and I never have to track my calories or macros. With Jenny Craig, you eat —3 main meals and 3 snacks, and they’re all really yummy. In fact, I didn’t even miss out on birthday cake this year because I got , a Vanilla Buttercream Cupcake!
Another huge perk about is that you get your own personal consultant. My coach is Rosanne and she is fabulous! She calls me every single week to chat. This last week I asked her what I should do about my birthday.
“Rosanne, I’ll be turning 40 and I’m kind of freaking out! When my siblings turned 40, I thought they were so old and now here I am, the baby of the family turning 40. How can this be happening?”
Rosanne assured me that turning 40 was no big deal and that I would rock it. I asked her if there was any wiggle room in the Jenny Craig plan for birthdays, like maybe could I take a night off from the program to celebrate my birthday with dinner and dessert? Her answer to my question reinforced about Jenny Craig and their kind and wise coaches.
She basically said that it was 100% my decision, but to keep in mind how amazing I’m feeling and how much hard work I’ve put forth (16 pounds* is a big deal people!).

Her true words were all the encouragement I needed. That night for my birthday dinner, the kids had pizza, I brought along my Jenny Craig dressing and ordered a delicious salad. We all had fun as a family, talking and laughing and I felt empowered. Like for once I was controlling the food instead of the food controlling me.
More Big Goals Ahead
Losing weight doesn’t come without challenges. The first couple of weeks on the program were admittedly hard. I was used to eating anything I wanted whenever I wanted. Working from home, there are always snacks and bags of candy around. I had to learn momentous self control. With each day, it became easier and easier. As I was able to exercise self control, I felt so free and empowered. It was liberating! I realized that down every food path, there’s a choice and I’m free to make it. And luckily with Jenny Craig, I don’t need to give up any of my favorite food groups.
Jenny Craig has premium entrees, snacks, and desserts, developed by professional chefs and designed to keep you feeling fuller with fewer calories.
Right now I’m finally tackling a big goal that has been on my bucket list; I’m training to run a half marathon. Two months ago, I would’ve thought that activity insurmountable, but now, I know I can do it. Now I’ve got the confidence and self control to pound out every mile of those 13.1 miles. I’m also on the right track to lose about 45 more pounds. It feels so good to know those goals are both finally achievable.
She Believed She Could, So She Did
I bought a necklace for myself a few months ago that says “She believed she could so she did,” with a “13.1” on it. I haven’t worn it yet. It’s my gift to myself once I accomplish my goal. Can’t wait to put that necklace on and wear it proudly.
As it turns out, turning 40 was no big deal. I feel more in control of my life than I ever did. I’m 16 pounds lighter* and my self confidence is soaring. *Results not typical. Members following the Jenny Craig program, on average, lost 1-2 lbs. per week. I received promotional consideration.

Your post convinced me to sign up, although I was so blown away by how expensive it was! I signed up for the super premium program, not sure if it’s worth the $300 it cost me. 🙁
