Last Summer I was lucky enough to tag along with my husband to a clothing and accessory trade-show during Fashion Week in Berlin! I loved walking around and taking a sneak peak of all the different clothing and accessories collections for the following year.
The one thing that I noticed being the same across the board of collections…. bright COLORS!
Everywhere!
So, for those of you who shy away from anything that is not in the white, black, and grey category…are you ready to incorporate some color?
Okay so it doesn’t have to be in a hot pink flowered suit (although I really do like it) but perhaps brightening up your makeup for spring by adding a little pop of color?
I asked my friend and stylist Camilla owner of Deco: Hair and Makeup Design to help me change my winter makeup to look more springish. Thank you to my lovely Sister Bee who was willing to bemy makeup model.
First thing Camilla mentioned was to ditch layering on all the thick foundation and powders that you may have used in the winter and just choose one or the other. You want to keep a fresher face. She also mentioned a light dusting of bronzer can be a great choice to give that winter skin a little added spring glow as we wait for our summer tan to appear.
Once the light foundation or powder is added she picks up a color for the cheeks. Pink and peach tones can be a fun spring color.
Oh yah- and don’t forget to lightly fill in those eyebrows! It may not seem like that big of a deal… but trust me… it really can make a huge difference for a finished look.
It’s eyeshadow time! Pinks and magenta tones look great on the majority of people and another great choice for spring!
She then lightly covers the lid with a light neutral tone.
And then lightly fills in the crease with a darker magenta tone and blends.
She then takes some white and lines the outer edge of the eye and inside of the eye to brighten up the eyes for spring.
Next is the pop of COLOR!
She gently went over the edge of the eye with a little pop of color.
You can experiment a little with colors and intensities- and remember have fun with it!
Next for some lip color. Going for a nude color on the lip is also a great option- but we thought we would experiment a little and try out some color in the lips.

I love those bright colors. I don’t go out the door anymore before doing my eyebrows and can’t believe what a difference it makes. Good post!

Love all the pics from the Berlin show – if only I could click on the photos to purchase some of the items! Bee’s makeup is so fun and fresh – I’m having 1980’s flashbacks with the colors. And speaking of colors that hot pink flower suit… they put it on a male mannequin!? Things that make you go “hmmm” – lol!
