I love all the great ideas for elf mischief! I hadn’t seen some of these before. I do have a quick question. Do you (or anyone else reading this) have tips for getting the elf to pose or stay in a certain position? I love all the ideas I see here and on a Pinterest every year, but I can’t figure out how to make my elf stay like that unail the next night. Thanks!

This might sound crazy to you, well everyone. But i am 29 an I have 3 kids,10, 7 an 9. Well I just heard of the elf on the shelf. My my step son(7) just told me about it this past Christmas. I’ve never heard of it before. It is by far the cutest tradition I have ever heard of. I want to start doing this with my kids, but I have a few questions maybe you could answer. Do I use more then 1 elf? What does the elf do on Christmas day? An do I just hide it all over my house in cute ways like what U have posted?

For us we use 1 elf for the whole family. The kids say bye to him on Christmas Eve and he hops in Santa’s sack and goes back to the North Pole with Santa when he comes. And yep, just hide all over…. the kids always have fun looking for him. We got our big kids to hide him and that was fun too! Hope you all have a blast with it!

I have done this for 17 years using a stuffed reindeer and it has a Christmas hairbow it has been fun now my 17 yr old hide her and poses her for the younger kids ….wish I would have patterns this idea then I could be a millionaire…. my point is you can use something other than a 30 dollar elf on shelf and it goes back to north pole to tell Santa if your being good that’s how I started was the reindeer is gonna tell Santa if your not good today then I started moving her around and so on …kids love it
