Were you there this weekend? I swear everyone and their dog{{oh wait…no dogs allowed}} were at Swiss Days this year! Utah’s biggest Craft Show was held this last weekend.
Rumor has it that it’s one of the largest in the West.
It’s more than a craft show…it’s a parade, a huge breakfast, piping hot scones, sweet BBQ dinner, singing, dancing, and oh yes, lots of crafting!
I hope it was you that I saw.
I was the one toting 2 little boys, a camera, diaper bag, 2 sippy cups, 2 orange juice bottles, a bag full of candy from the parade, sporting a red right shoulder stain from the sucker juice of a toddler who got it from the parade! Where was my sweet husband during this mayhem? He was toting our 2 daughters around along with their orange juice bottles, soap from the soap lady booth, candy from the parade, wrappers from the candy that they got from the parade, my camera bag, and picking up everything the boys…I…kept dropping.
Yep…that was totally worth it!
If you couldn’t make it…let me show you a bit of what 80,000 people saw in 2 days! {{The Swiss Day officials say there is about 80k people that go through the show, but it felt like 200k!}}. I am not a crowd person. They scare me, especially with 4 kids. This was an exception, though. This was totally worth it.
Do you want to know the hint on timing big crowds? Go EARLY!
Wait…none of the booths were open yet, but in 30 minutes from when this picture was taken…it was a full house, shoulder to shoulder. We ran around to the open booths and then ran back around to hit the ones that weren’t open in the first go around. Seriously, there is an art to this. We got into all the booths we wanted, it was calm and great for a ‘crowdaphobic’.
Okay, I don’t know if I’m a phobic…I just don’t like them. Maybe it’s because I’m afraid I’ll lose a kid or I’ll get lost.
This was one of the last booths that caught my eye. I’m posting her first because it’s how I downloaded the pictures…and I love the colors of these zippers! HowDoesShe readers meet,
Lei Sanchez aka: ‘zipper lady’ with Zipped with Accessories
Look at how fun a zipper looks in Lei’s hair. She was wearing a broach of 3 zipper flowers on her shirt, too.
Trust me on that one…that picture turned out crappy.
Look at these twirls of ‘zip’. Colors of ‘per.’
Get it…’zip’ ‘per.’ It’s always a good joke when you have to explain it;)
Headband zipper flowers!
Look at this on a display. Clips for tutu’s.
Beautiful colors. Bright Headbands. Blurry Bracelets…sorry. I’m still working on the ‘f” stop on my camera.
Go check out her site at: Zipped with Accessories
This next booth was Holly with Hotch Potch.
This was a fun booth, not only were the crafts bright and cheerful, but so were the booth workers.
Look at these boots. Boot Slippers. Seriously…they know how to match colors and find fun colors! Look..really.
Look how fun they made this six.
Check out their site at: Hotch Potch
Wait…there is more…More booths…More Crafts! More SWISS.
Mendy and Megan with Winborg Design
This was actually the first booth I saw. These women were so gracious. They were running on very little sleep to get ready for this show and they let me in with my camera and clan!
Look how they use color on canvas. You can see why this booth stuck out!
Mixes of color.
Visit them at: Winborg Design
Last…or maybe towards the front of the to do list are the hot pancakes and syrup that is offered every year.
This is Alan.
He was a bit bashful to be in the spotlight, but he has some serious pancake skills.
Good eats!
Thanks Midway for hosting Swiss Days and the crafters who were so kind and allowed me to take pictures of them and their crafts.
Oh and I know I said in the header…The top 3 crafters at Swiss Days. This is so subjective, but it’s my post so I got to choose!
There were really so many talented crafters it was hard to choose. Maybe next year I will open it up to 5 top crafters.
There was one booth of homemade hats that I was dying to get to, but the kids were calling er…running.

My Mom & I head to Swiss Days every year. You are brave having your hubby & kids come. This year…my sandal broke. I was the one hobbling around with one shoe on. At least it was grass.
I loved the magnetic fridge calendars & the jewelry from touch piece. The hats were really cute too! I would have loved one!

I am a Swiss Days local. That is right. I live there, and I still love it. I actually think it was smaller this year than in years past.
There were lots of booths this year with different things- a lot of times it is all vinyl lettering and framed dried flowers. This year I loved some of the photography booths, the upcycled furniture booth and the booth with the upcycled paper wreaths and cake plats like this one.http://readysetplan.blogspot.com/2010/09/upcycled-cake-plate.html
This woman has a booth every year too.

the blessing gowns and nightgowns she makes are beautiful, plus she is one of the most amazing women I know and am lucky to live near.

I used to live in Midway and Heber, and we would go. I always loved it, but we moved when I was a young teen and now I’m across the country. But I would love to attend again sometime.

My sister and I got a hotel the night before so we could be up early shopping. We had so much fun. Our favorite booth was the wood crafters right at the corner. We would have loved to have stayed and stared but it was standing room only like a Hong Kong subway. It was crazy but we loved it. We went and splurged on a giant scone and two diet pepsi. Can it get any better than that? A weekend with my twin sister, craft shopping, giant scones and diet Pepsi? Life is good.

I went and bought a darling Halloween decoration and want another but don’t know the name of the booth. The decoration is a big, bright orange Christmas ball with witch feathers coming out the top. Did you happen to see those? And do you know how I can get another one???
Alison says
I didn’t see them. I will be watching next year though!!!

We will be there for the first time this Summer. We are excited to be part of this event in August.
We will be selling a line of boys apparel and accessories. We will also have a good amount of free promo products on the first day! We look forward to seeing all the Utah vendors and attendees.
