I am starting to obsess over adorable cupcakes. I’m sure you have noticed, but cupcakes are the new craze. They are everywhere and presentation is everything! This gorgeous homemade tiered cupcake platter stand is incredibly easy and inexpensive to make.Are the lights going off in your head?! I know! So Simple!
Buy 3 plates. 1 Large (serving plate), 1 Medium (dinner plate), and 1 Small (dessert plate). Also buy 3 Sunday/Parfait Cups. Flip One Sundae cup over and place the largest plate on top. Vwalah! A perfect cake stand!Keep stacking and stacking…Fill… and…Watch them…Disappear!{I’ll claim that cutie!}
Here is a seasonal twist on the idea. {Can you believe fall is coming? I’m seeing back to school stuff everywhere!!}

LOVE the pumpkin idea. I’m just worried about how sturdy the cups and plates idea would be…
Shelley says
It was pretty sturdy when I made it,…but you definetly don’t want kids bumping into it. You can GLUE it however, with glass glue. -If your attempting the pumpkin approach, make sure you get flat top pumpkins! 🙂

What an amazing idea. I really wish I had seen this 3 days ago, as we had cupcakes for my one year old’s birthday party and had to stick them on a cookie sheet because I had no cupcake platter! I am certainly keeping this in mind for next time.

This is fabulous and so simple! I thought I had come up with a pretty cute and easy cupcake tower, but this might be even more simple…and elegant! Here’s my version for an easy cupcake tower:

Brilliant! I’ll be hitting the second hand and Sally Ann for platters and parfait cups.
One suggestion: to make the platter permanent there is an adhesive plumbers use when making those posh glass walled shower stalls to adhere one sheet of glass to another.

I love this, being obssessed with cake plates and dishes in general, I now have new ways to use my collections. This weekend I’ll be making 8 cake stands for a bridal shower! Thanks for the inspiration!

I have used this idea for so many parties, it is amazing how you can incorporate your theme into a cake/cupcake stand with just a little creativness. Haven’t used the pumpkin one, that is a keeper for sure! I just bought this really cool cupcake/cake stand from homegoods that I think is a genius idea for the price! You can see it here, I love it that I bought two!

Ooh! I love the tierd look!!! I recently made one too but I glued them together. Did you glue yours? If not, was it sturdy? =)
here’s the one I did

Shelley says
I didn’t glue mine together. I was originally planning too,…but I love how I can take them apart to store them. I have used my tiered platter several times (you can also spot it in my twins birthday party post holding the cookies here https://howdoesshe.com/sweet-shoppe-party-twins-first-birthday). It has proven to be plenty sturdy for my needs. Just make sure no one bumps into it! 😉
Lora Joy says
oh thank you! yeah, i have a hard time storing them!

I LOVE Hello, Cupcake! It’s my go-to book for the kids’ birthday parties or to take seasonal cupcakes to school!! And I love the idea that the tiered cupcake holder comes apart! Genius!!

Gorgeous! I have all the elements to make these, I just hope mine looks as fabulous as yours. I like the pumpkin version, too. What if you made this and spray painted it black for a Halloween theme? Or white with sanded edges and glazed? That way the plates would not have to be clear glass. Hmmmm, now you’ve got me thinking….

The plates are almost as lovely as the cupcakes! This is a great idea and would be much easier to store than three cake plates.
