Fun Frugal Christmas Tradition #9 – Family Slumber Party
The excitement building up to Christmas is half the fun! This weekend surprise the kiddos by putting an invitation on their pillow to a family slumber party! Pop some popcorn, watch your favorite Christmas movies, build a fort, talk about Christmas memories past…its up to you!
As your family grows this slumber party could include cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents {oh tough it out,…it’s just for one night!} ;). Is it just the two of you? Newlyweds or Empty Nesters, this could also make for a romantic Christmas date! -This Christmas tradition could surely be a memorable one that the family looks forward to each year. Make sure it’s not on Christmas Eve though! Santa needs all good little girls and boys tucked soundly in their beds!
Do you have any Christmas slumber party traditions?

We actually do a slumber party on christmas eve with our kids. it’s in our room and we set blankets up and they can watch a christmas movie together. mom and dad stay up until all the kids are asleep then we go to bed and lock us all in. then they have to wake us up before they go out so we can take pictures. my kids are 8, 5 ,1, and baby so they love still love it.

This is a wonderful idea. My family used to have an annual Thanksgiving slumber party. The night before Thanksgiving the entire family would bring blankets, pillows, snacks and games to my Grannys and hang out all night. Granny has since passed and we no longer have our slumber parties but we still have lots of pictures and memories.

My kids all sleep in the same room on Christmas Eve, and have been doing it for as long as I can remember. My oldest is now almost 14 and is looking forward to it!

On our children’s March Break we turned our home into a “ski chalet” …we skied everyday at our local ski hill, unplugged the phone for a week, made fires in our wood stove and slept on mattress in livingroom near it nightly. Our kids said it felt like they had gone away for a vacation since they were given our full attention for the week. Our family and friends knew of this plan. It worked great!
