Do you have a space in your home that just needs that little extra coat of paint to spice it up but feel lost when it comes to knowing what color scheme to go with?
Guilty.
This abandoned office space has been a ìwork in progressî for over a year now.
Iíve been dreaming about this space and pinning ideas on Pinterest for a while in hopes to convert it into the warm and creative space that I can feel inspired and claim as my own.
Unfortunately, Pinterest is where this dream has stopped.
I just canít seem to decide on a color scheme. I attribute my indecisiveness to what I call ìColor Commitment Phobia. Yes, it’s a technical term I came up with to describe those who are afraid to take the plunge and commit to paint color. Instead, I live through Pinterest boards admiring other people’s amazing rooms and dreaming about the day that a makeover show will show up on my doorstep and reinvent my room while I am away on vacation.
It hasn’t happened yet. I am still waiting for that day.
Finally taking matter into my own hands, I started bringing home several paint samples, paper, or other items that inspire me and setting them down on the desk in hopes that one just would speak to me to help me decide.
That hasn’t happened yet either.
And once again the fear of committing consumed my mind. What if the colors don’t really go together, or what if they don’t really go with the rest of my home, what if I hate it, what if my husband hates it, what if I change my mind, what if…? You would think I was trying to make the decision to marry it or something.
And to make matters worse, the glass door of this space invites anyone who enters to take a glance- as it is first room to your left as you enter my home. Oh and that giant bean bag you see- well this room has now become the storage space for items we are unsure of what to do with such as an oversized bean bags we got when we were first married and can’t seem to let go of. I think itís time to finish this room before it becomes the dumping ground of other random items.
But hold the phone- I just discovered the most amazing tool by Sherwin-Williams that has come to the rescue in helping me with this problem!
It’s called Chip It!
It allows you take any picture online and turn it into a perfect paint palette for inspiration. You can get the Chip it! Button just like your “Pin it” button for Pinterest. First you drag the Chip it! Button to your toolbar and then whenever you spot a photo you like online, just click the Chip it! button and then click the photo itself.
And Voila!
You have an entire palette of paint colors to work with that are pulled from that image.
Warning: this is highly addictive and so fun that and you may find yourself “chipping” photos into wee hours of the morning.
I speak from experience.
It’s amazingly easy and you can save your ChipBooks to view whenever you need!
I found this photo on Pinterest and scrolled over it after pressing my Chipit! button and just like that- I have a set of colors with their paint name and number!
I am now inspired to just go for it and choose a color scheme for this room and see what happens!
Check out the ChipIt! video and drag the “Chip It” button below to your Bookmarks Bar right away!
Here is a second image for you to try:
Let us know what you think once you’ve tried it! We want to know your thoughts!
Chip my second image and guess which one I’m going to use in my own office and you’ll be entered to win a $1,000 Visa gift card and a $200 Sherwin-Williams gift card.
