“Where are my keys?”
Do you ever find yourself asking that as you dig around your overstuffed bag?
I do.
A lot.
I have a bad case of “Mom-Bag Syndrome.”
In fact, it wasn’t until I was frantically searching for my wallet one day and I had to look in seven- yes SEVEN different bags to realize I had a problem.
It was so comical that I decided to jot down the magical things I found. In one bag I found: a whistle, crayons, lipstick, knitting needles, string, a swimsuit, flashlight, a hot chocolate packet, finger puppets, earnings (I had been looking for those), several flavors of lipgloss, action heros, change of clothing for my son, multiple pens, a small notebook, gloves, fruitsnacks, wax lips (random I know), sunglasses, toothpaste, playdoh, and hand sanitizer all in ONE bag! But NO WALLET!!!
Well, I have found the solution!
Drop that “Mom Bag” and grab a clutch instead!
Well, that is if you don’t have small infants who need a lot of items. But even if you still have small children- still take the clutch and have a little bag ready in the car with items you may need for your children or yourself but don’t necessarily have to tote around.
If you don’t have small children…no excuses: DROP THAT MOM BAG!
One of my favorite bag features that I have seen are bags that have a two in one feature like this teal bag c/o Grace Adele.
The bag itself can hold a clutch with your essential items and that way if you need to simplify- you can take it out like this:
Go from taking everything with you.
To this:
And let me just say, that for some reason when I carry around a smaller purse or a clutch- I have an extra pep in my step. It makes me feel younger, fresher, sexier, and for one moment I can be…just me… without the heavy “Mom bag” attached to my arm.
Try it.

Holy Schmoly Arm Muscles! I must comment on that first. Next life I’d like your arms…hair and eyelashes please. Okay yes, a clutch! Love this so much better than the deep purse that is the pit of stuff. Thanks for the cute post!

Funny because I have had all those same thoughts about you! I blame crossfit… mingled with several bags of candy corn- both which I can’t seem to get enough of. Good to know there is a little bit of progress in the arm department- I was pretty sure they were canceling each other out.

Oh, my. That’s me, the mom-bag woman. I’ve carried one for so long, I might be lost without it. Sometimes in the stores, I forgo a plastic bag and just use my purse. So pathetic. Maybe I should down-size, at least once in a while.
