Quick fried polenta with sausage marinara sauce recipe
– Quick fried polenta with sausage marinara sauce recipe – I think I have mentioned once or twice how important a QUICK meal is around my house. I don’t know where the hours disappear to every day, but it seems like, without fail, I glance at the clock and it’s already past 5 pm. I don’t know what your kids are like when they are hungry but mine become downright SCARY! Not only does dinner have to come together FAST, but it has to be good. That last part is mainly for my benefit. My kids love cold cereal for supper, but I want my meal to taste like it came from a restaurant. Just because a meal is fast, doesn’t mean it shouldn’t TASTE like it took hours to prepare.
I can’t wait to share this meal idea and the amazing lead player that takes this dish to the next level. Let me introduce a new discovery – pasta sauces. has a way of making your favorite dish POP with incredible flavors. And I mean it – the flavor is amazing. It’s hard to describe, but you need to try this stuff out. Simply put, not all pasta sauces are created equal. Bertolli Riserva features imported specialty ingredients paired with ideal complementary flavors in order to create a collection of unique, delicious sauces. With ingredients like asiago cheese, artichokes, and truffle oil, just to name a few, you can add a tasty twist to your next meal. I mean, can you say “oooh, la la”?
They have a bunch of delicious sauce flavors like:
· Bertolli® Riserva Balsamic Vinegar & Caramelized Onions Sauce (can you say, yum?!)
· Bertolli® Riserva Porcini Mushrooms with Truffle Oil (truffle oil? AWESOME!)
· Bertolli® Riserva Asiago Cheese & Artichokes Sauce (Ooh, la la!)
But today I’m sharing my personal favorite – with Parmigiano-Reggiano!
Doesn’t it just sound elegant rolling off the tongue? I bet you want to know what is in this sauce that makes the flavor so amazing – Here are some of the finest ingredients you’ll find in Marinara :
- A special blend of vine-ripened, freshly crushed tomatoes from our farms in California
- Freshly crushed garlic
- Imported Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese
- Imported Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- No artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives
A sauce as good as this deserved some extra special treatment. While I COULD just pour this over any old pasta, I wanted to try something I’ve always wanted to try – and let me tell you, it was yummy with a capital “Y”!! I made fried polenta with italian sausage marina sauce and mozzarella. You are going to love this, AND love that it comes together in about 15 minutes. Oh, and did I mention that there are only 5 ingredients? BONUS!!
Ingredients:
- 1 tube prepared polenta, sliced into 8-12 slices (can substitute with your favorite pasta)
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 ½ lbs ground Italian sausage, scramble fried
- 1 jar Bertolli® Riserva Marinara with Parmigiano-Reggiano
- Mozzarella cheese, shredded
- Fresh Basil, (optional – for garnish)
Directions:
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and fry the polenta slices, 4 minutes per side, until slightly crispy.
While those babies are frying up, in an oven-proof pan, mix half of the jar of Bertolli® Riserva Marinara with Parmigiano-Reggiano with the fried italian sausage and set aside.
Once the polenta slices are all fried up (takes around 7-8 minutes total), spread the remaining half of the Bertolli® Riserva Marinara with Parmigiano-Reggiano in a 9X13 pan. Layer the polenta slices over top. Ladle the sausage/sauce mixture over each slice of polenta. Sprinkle mozzarella over the sausage/sauce layer. I only made 6, but you can do over a dozen in a larger pan, if you’d like. The sauce goes a long way – it’s a great value!
Now broil for 2-3 minutes or until the cheese melts and begins to bubble.
Top with fresh basil and serve hot!
Did I tell you this came together quick? I timed it and I had this plated and ready to eat in under 15 minutes. And – the best part? My kids (ALL of my kids) loved it. I will be making this again, and I’ll be trying out every flavor of the Bertolli® Riserva sauces.
