We are so excited about the new addition, that we thought we should celebrate with some wizard approved treats. We gathered five Harry Potter inspired recipes that you can make at home to brew your own magic until the real thing opens.
Butterbeer: There are lots of butterbeer recipes out there, but this is the best one.
First you’ll start by gathering your favorite cream soda, butter, ice cream, butterscotch chips, cinnamon chips and sweetened condensed milk. Measure out ¼ cup of each of the cinnamon and butterscotch chips, ¼ cup of sweetened condensed milk, and 2 T salted butter. Melt all of these ingredients together over low heat and mix it until it makes a thick butterscotch syrup. Next, add one chilled bottle or can of cream soda and stir it in. Once it’s all stirred, remove it from the heat and stir in the second chilled bottle for a few seconds so you don’t lose the carbonation.
Serve over a scoop of vanilla ice cream for that perfect combination.
Golden snitch donuts: These are incredibly easy to make and use many of the same ingredients that you’ll use for the butterbeer. And bonus, they pair great together. Grab a box of crumb donuts and your extra butterscotch and cinnamon chips. Melt the chips together, then pipe them onto wax paper in the shape of a wing. Once they’ve cooled, stick them into the side of the crumb donuts, and just like magic, you have golden snitch donuts.
Chocolate frogs: Get a bag of the full-sized Haribo frogs and your favorite chocolate chips. Slowly melt your chocolate in the microwave, then dip your frogs one-by-one. You can cover them completely, or leave their little green heads uncovered so that you can easily tell that they’re frogs. Once they’ve cooled, add your froggy eyes with frosting. You can buy pre-made candy eyes HERE .
Chocolate crickets: Trick your kids into thinking they’re eating bugs with these super cute and easy chocolate “crickets.” The secret ingredient?
Sesame stick crackers.
Dip them in melted chocolate, and then drizzle additional chocolate across the cracker in a thick zig-zag to make it look like legs. Once the chocolate has cooled, add candy or frosting eyes, and you’re done.
Candy wands:
For a magical treat, get some large pretzel sticks, frosting, Pull ‘n Peel Twizzlers and sprinkles.
Pipe frosting along your pretzel rods, then twist the Twizzlers along the frosting.
Dip them in sprinkles for some extra magical flare, and you’re done!
I hope these treats tie you over until your next visit!
