One of the new-ish trends in fashion, color blocking is all about — you guessed it — wearing blocks of color. So your top half would be one color and the bottom would be another color. Easy, right? They can be solid; they can be patterned. Sorry, ladies… Blue jeans do NOT count! Not unless they’re colored jeans like these yellow skinny jeans. My rule of thumb to color blocking is the more bright and loud the colors, the better. Always!!!
One of my favorite ways to color block is to pair similar colors together like green and yellow, orange and pink, or green and teal.
If you’re not feeling wild enough to pair similar colors together, go for a bright color on the bottom with a light or dark hue on top. Necklaces are not optional. Nor are heels! Or a brown satchel, apparently. I really need to switch up my purses…
Another way you can color block is to wear (not quite here) complementary colors. For more information on complementary colors and the two-thirds rule, check out Academichic!
Now that fall is just around the corner, the darker hues are perfect for color blocking like blue and camel!

I really LOVE seeing people wearing color, but I have always been so afraid to do it. I LOVE the green and teal together..maybe I’ll get up enough courage to go for it!

I love these looks and Elaine’s clean style. When I tried to go to her blog, clothedmuch.com, it said that I wasn’t invited. :(. Is there a way to get permission so that I can see more of her ideas? Thank you! I’m loving this whole site by the way- so inspirational for a mother of two little ones to look fashionable! Thank you! 🙂
