Gifts for teachers
School is in or almost in…I can’t believe it’s that time of year again.
Do you remember Amber from the birthday wreath post and birthday board?
She called me and wanted something to give to her teachers as a welcome back to school present.
I thought it was more like a brown nose present, but whatever…I made some for my kid’s teachers too! It doesn’t hurt to get started in a positive direction and teachers work hard so we can all justify a little spoiling to these awesome teachers!
Items needed:
- 1x6x8 board
- 1x3x4.5 board (We used quarter inch mdf, but you can use 1×4 too…if I didn’t have a scrap of mdf around then we would have used the 1×4)
- Scrapbook paper
- Vinyl…Oh yay!
- 2 eyelets
- 2 hooks
- Handle (or ribbon)
- Ribbon to tie the handle on
Mod podge your paper on the front of the big board and both sides of the smaller board.
Apply your vinyl (if you need help with vinyl see the bottom of the post). The font is ‘teen‘ (it’s a free font BTW! I. like. free. fonts.)
The “Mr. Phelps class” measures 5 inches wide and 4 inches tall.
The “school’s in” and “school’s out” measures 4 inches wide and 1.5 inches tall.
Pre-drill holes into the bottom of the top board and the top of the bottom board (read that a few times over…whoo!) Just do a little hole…it makes it easier to screw in the hook and eyelet.
Oh and I forgot to tell you to sand the edges of the paper after you mod podge the paper on, but by now I am sure you are experts at mod podging and you could add to the list of the top ten list of perfect mod podging steps.
Drill two holes at the top of the bigger board and tie on a handle. I got these from my local welder. Well he used to be local, but now that I’m in Utah I need to find a new one. They are a ‘c’ shape with ‘clam’ ends…just in case you were wanting to know:) Use some ribbon to tie it on. If you don’t have a handle you can just use ribbon.
Add some matching ribbon to the bottom board for a little something. The board can easily be flipped to say ‘school’s out’ or ‘school’s in.’
Thanks Amber for making these with me! I am excited my kids are going to be the teacher’s pet:)
We are participating in these linky parties…thanks!
