2×4 Snowman.
I thought we needed more 2×4 love. It’s been a while.
If you need some more 2×4 ideas…you are in luck. 2×4 decor galore!
Gift giving at it’s finest, from scraps of wood. They turn out awesome!
The supplies you’ll need:
- 5 inch 2×4
- 4 inch 2×4
- 3 inch 3×4
- a 2×4 wedge for the nose
- Scrapbook paper
- 3 Buttons
- Craft supplies (mod podge, scissors, brush, ink)
- little toy truck, optional
Apply your scrapbook paper onto the wood, using you mod podging skills. When you are done, use sand paper to finish the edges. I use 120 grit sand paper. It goes faster.
Mod podge your paper onto your wood…3 body pieces and 1 nose.
For the buttons cut out 2 circles, one larger than the other.
Use your stain to go around the outside of the circles.
Add a real button to the center and glue them together. I just used mod podge to glue them together. It worked.
Glue them to your snowman body.
Stain the outside of the snowman and add snow…
Happy Holidays with a fun little man!

In a previous entry you said just ask around for people’s spare 2x4s – Where would you suggest asking around?
Danke! 🙂

what holds the stacked wood together so that it could be hung, or propped or whatever?

I am making each of my sisters one and I have all the pieces but I am wondering is it supposed to be able to stand up or lay flat? Laying flat it is so adorable but with the nose mine won’t stand up it just falls over. I freely admit this is the first time I have used mod podge and I am not crafty so I have been learning as I go. Perhaps I had my husband cut the nose wrong? Is it the same thickness as the rest of the blocks? Also ditto to Kate’s question about what holds it together.
Thanks!

I used wood glue to glue the nose on. He can stand up…I just layed him flat for the pic. Use wood glue for the nose. It works:)

I have a question about the 2×4 snowman. How do you put him together so he won’t fall apart when you stand him up?
Alison says
Wood Glue:)
