‘Why I Love You’ Pillows!
DIY Pillow Tutorial
To kick off Valentines day in our house the first day in February I put these pillows on my kids bed. Then for 14 days my husband and I leave love notes in them about why we love them. They can’t read them {or have them read to them…if they can’t read} until they are ready for bed. It really motivates them to get ready for bed… BTW!
Here’s the cool thing…they are super easy to make! I’m excited to share this DIY Pillow Tutorial! They are made out of hand towels. You know I am a fan of ‘straight’ sewing lines. So here is a very picture detailed tutorial of how to take a hand towel and create loving memories!
This would be fun to make for your spouse too!
O ya…I got these towels last year at Target after Valentines for around) $0.50 {LOVE IT!!!}
1. Choose the towel fabric you want for your pocket.
2. Cut out a 6×8 rectangle (the size of the fabric really doesn’t matter).
3. Fold down all sides of the pocket and sew.
4. Sew the 2 sides and bottom of the pocket fabric material down onto another towel. Make sure to leave the top open!
5. Turn inside out and sew the sides together.
9. Get ready to place on the bed with love notes and watch them smile!

Reminds me of our tooth pillows and sweet dreams pillows growing up. We had a small pocket to put our tooth in after we lost it so that it didn’t get lost. When we had bad dreams, mom had us write good thoughts on paper and stick it in a pillow pocket. Thanks for the memory trip!

What a great idea. No one ever gets tired of being told all the reasons they are loved, do they? And it’s much less fattening than chocolate!

I LOVE your pillow it’s so sweet that I had to try to make one of my own. Thanks so much for your inspiration. I haven’t sewn anything in over 20 years and I didn’t even have a sewing machine but I went straight to costco and purchased one. I Loved the pillow of coaurse mine needs a little work but my three year old wont judge me. Thanks for all the amazing posts. You can take a peek at my pillow on my blog. Jessie

I used similar towels to make cute totebags. Same idea- use the waffle one for a pocket- you do need some extra fabric for the lining.

Do you have any cute sayings/ideas to put in the pockets? I did an Encouragement jar for my daughter’s 18th birthday, and I think it was one of the best things I’ve ever made her. 🙂 Thanks for the special ideas.
