——————————————————-
We love paint! We love the power it holds to transform the mundane to the one of a kind! We love that it is an economical way for any budget to take what they already own and turn their ho hum old furniture into trendy, one-of-a-kind pieces. Would you like a little proof? Let’s begin with the always appreciated before and after, shall we?
Before
After!
To get this look:
First, sand all surfaces to take off the shine and give the surface some grit for the paint to adhere to.
Then, apply primer to give those heavily used areas extra durability.
Finally, paint using foam rollers for a nice smooth finish or invest in a nice paintbrush. They are worth the splurge!
Intimidated by upholstering?
Then start here.
This is a five minute fix that you can’t go wrong on.
Remove the screws and old fabric.
Replace fabric and adhere with staple gun.
Replace screws and you are done!
A super fast and easy paint trick…
One of the quickest paint jobs to do is a “dry brush” technique. You get to skip all the prep work of sanding at the beginning to achieve this look.
This process is done by dipping your paintbrush into paint and removing most of the paint onto a paper towel. You want your paintbrush with a very minimal amount of paint. Then, with a light hand, paint in back and forth dragging motions to achieve desired look. Follow this with sanding to knock off more of the paint to give it that timeworn look. For this technique, be sure to follow it up with a good sealer to help the remaining paint adhere permanently.
Dry brushing was used for this desk as well.

I am always nervous to paint old furniture. I’m afraid I will make it look worse! But I think you have inspired me to try it. Thanks!
