Ladies, can you believe December is already here!?! I decided to get an early start on my Christmas shopping, this year, so we can spend my husband’s break from school enjoying some fun holiday activities instead of stressing about last minute gifts. A while back, a friend of mine was showing me some things from her “busy box” that she had for her kids. She pulled out a bag of velcro sticks and I knew I had to have one! I thought it would be such a fun and easy project to share with all of you! AND because I love all of you sooooooo much 😉 I spent some time designing printables to go along with this little project. This would make for the perfect little stocking stuffer or friend gifts for your kids!
The supplies —
1 bag of JUMBO popsicle sticks
A few packages of sticky back Velcro stickers (enough for 20-25 popsicle sticks)
A small drawstring bag
The Free Printable Pages
At home lamination packets or a quick run to your local copy store for lamination
The PDF pages I have created all have tic marks on them which show just where they need to be cut! Each of the 7 shape pages turns out to measure 4 x 6 inches. The small description card should measure 2 3/4 x 3 3/4 inches. Using a paper cutter trim the pages to size and laminate them! Most copy stores do a quick job of laminating or you can purchase self laminating pouches from your local craft stores! Download the 4 printable files HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE!
Open the popsicle sticks and get ready for the fastest project of your life 😉
Place a fuzzy piece and a hook piece of velcro on each end of the stick. Flip the stick over and on the same sides place a fuzzy piece and a hook piece. You should end up with 4 pieces of velcro on each stick, fuzzy pieces on one end and hook pieces on the other end.
And you are basically done!
Place the sticks in your bag along with the stick art example pages. Your kids will have so much fun creating shape after shape. You can even come up with fun stick creations of your own!
Punch a hole in the description tag and tie it to one of the strings of the bag.
Tie it all up and your project is complete!
Enjoy this quick and easy little gift that is bound to keep any child happy and entertained!
Merry Christmas All!!!

This is great! Thank you!!! I can’t wait to make this project.
Could you recommend an inexpensive but decent laminator. I use to be a teacher so I was spoiled with the one at work and now I would like one at home for all these fun projects 🙂
Thanks so much for your help!!!

I love this idea! Do you have a printable for the tag, please? (“Stick Art Kit”)

This looks perfect for my nephew. He’s autistic and we have a hard time getting him interested in conventional toys. He really likes tactile toys but has gotten very bored of all the previous favs. I’ll let you know how it goes over!

Another idea is to create the same size sticks from stiff flannel pieces ( like those rectangle, pre-cut ones in the craft aisle). This way, you could take them to meetings and stuff where you need your child to play quietly and they won’t make noise if the fall out of the bag… in fact, they probably won’t fall out of the bag because they are flannel. –just an idea!
