Hi, we’re the Fancy Farmgirls
Marg and Liz.
We grew up in this home along with 7 other siblings.
It’s a home that we love
However,
Not one that Liz thought she would find herself living in again
with five kids of her own.
(story of how that came to be on the blog)
Our Dad built this home with his own two hands,
It’s walls are full of wonderful memories
However,
It’s walls also look like this….
Lesson about to be learned…Don’t judge a home by it’s cover.
This kitchen is in this home.
This home has great features,
but it wasn’t Liz’s style.
There was a lot of wood, which is beautiful, but dark.
Liz loves light and bright!
This is a short term rental, so putting in a lot of money wasn’t an option,
Instead, she put on A LOT of paint and some Fancy Farmgirl furnishings
It changed the entire feel of the place.
Ah! This kitchen was built for fall.
Chimney, wood burning oven (it works!)
With just a $17 dollar roll of beadboard wallpaper, she updated an outdated laminate backsplash.
Didn’t even remove the backsplash, just went right over the top. A kitchen makeover can be as simple as that.
The white door,(that us kids ALWAYS left open and let in all the flies!)
Becomes a standout with a coat of black paint.
This home didn’t get an overhaul of new cabinets, torn down walls, etc.
It just received the willingness of time and energy and A LOT of paint,
to become what Liz wanted it to be for her.
You want her to come be your renter?:)
P.S. The outside still looks the same.
We love the transformative power of paint! We love bringing old things back to life again! This kitchen makeover was so fun.
We are hoarders disguised as Fancy Farmgirls!
