By now you’ve probably seen a lot of washi tape floating around stores, blogs, and crafting circles. There are so many amazing ways you can use it, but sometimes you need a simple DIY project to get your washi tape feet wet. Here are five easy ways to use washi that will get your creative juices flowing.
1. Party Decor
This may seem like an obvious choice, but there are soooo many things you can do. I helped host an airplane-themed baby shower in May and I was sticking the washi all over. The tails for my paper airplanes, putting up a print I designed, decorating the tables- it was everywhere. One of the greatest things about washi is it’s semi-permanence. It definitely stays put on the wall, but it peels off easily when you’re done with it.
2. Wrapping Embellishments
So many things to do with a blank canvas like a brown paper wrapped gift! Cut little designs out of your washi, use it as a “ribbon”, or just make some stripes. Unlimited possibilities here.
3. Labeling
I took this dessert to a potluck party and there was no need to ask who the pan or spoon belonged to, or what was in the pan to begin with! Simple, fast, and you can color coordinate, since washi comes in a bazillion different colors and designs.
4. Picture Hanging
Dorm rooms, kid rooms, living rooms, and just about every other room is the perfect place for a quick washi-frame. You can do the corners, frame the whole thing, or do a simple top and bottom. You can add a splash of color or glitter to a black and white graphic print, and when you need a change, just peel that tape off and get something new in it’s place. Easy on the walls, easy on your photos and art.
5. Cut-outs
This is an adorable way to customize tags, artwork, or anything else in your home. Simply place your tape and cut it out, simple as that.
Start keeping your washi tape handy and you’ll find endless uses for it!

I am constantly using washi tape! I recently had a party where all of the plastic cups were covered in various strips of washi tape and received so many compliments!

I love these ideas! Washi tape is really so cute and versatile! I just used it this weekend to seal treat bags, instead of tying with ribbon- the finished product was very chic!
