“If you spend too much time thinking about a thing, you’ll never get it done.” Bruce Lee
This quote perfectly sums up all the projects that I’m currently working on or want to work on. As is the case with a lot of us, I come up with great ideas of what to do, but unfortunately not all my great projects get completed. Yes, I’m a busy mom, and I have my hands full with kids, but sometimes it just takes a bit of initiative to dive right in and start a project. Once I stop thinking about it, and just start doing it, I can finish things off. Thank you Bruce Lee for this great insight.
Arrow Fastener
Let me tell you about a little project I’ve been working on. I’ve been putting if off and thinking about if for quite sometime. Two years ago my brother was getting rid of this awesome chair. I was happy to take it off his hands since I could see that it had great potential.
It’s not necessarily a bad chair as it currently sat, but I wanted to change it up. It only took me two years to buckle down and finish this chair make-over project, but I did it. It was actually a very simple project because I found out about the staple gun from Arrow Fasteners. I wasn’t sure of an easy and fast way to fasten the fabric to cover the seat, and that was holding me back on the project. I don’t own a compressor or nail gun, let alone know how to use one, so once I found out about Arrows’ Electric Staple Gun I realized this would be an easy and fast project.
I started out by painting the chair white. I really wanted a distressed look, so I painted it solid and then used a sheet of sand paper to scuff up my paint job – funny how we do that.
Once the painting and sanding was complete, I moved on to recovering the seat. I bought some durable, classic-looking fabric material from my local fabric store. With the fabric, my staple gun, and staples I was now ready to cover the seat.
I measured the fabric so I had extra to wrap up and around. After that, I started stapling. I read in the instructions that depending on the harness of the wood you can enhance your driving power by firmly placing your other hand on top of the cap. I did have to do this since the wood I was stapling into was very strong.
I put a staple in every couple of inches or so. Once I finished stapling the fabric, all I had to do was screw the seat back on the chair using the original screws I removed earlier. Voila! I was done. I’ll have to say that it turned out great, and it was a pretty simple project that I was able to wrap up in not much time at all. I love the finished result.
Even my little one couldn’t wait to pose with the “new” chair. Love it!! It is the simple things in life.
Arrow Fastener is a great company. They are a leader in manual, electric and cordless fastening tools for both pros and DIYers. Founded in New York City in 1929, Arrow quickly became synonymous with its flagship staple gun, along with its full range of T50® staples. Building on the success of the heavy duty T50® staple gun, Arrow now markets a full line of pneumatic, electric and manual staplers and brad nailers as well as rivet tools, glue guns, and hammer tackers and a full line of consumables to match.
Isn’t it great to work on projects with nice tools? It makes it go so much faster and easier. It definitely made a difference with this project.
