Happy Friday, everyone!
I’m here with a blast from the past… why? I have got a wedding to go to this weekend and I needed a refresher course in getting that dewey, fresh-faced look that I LOVE. Sydney to the rescue! This look is amazing on anyone, and I plan to WORK IT, SISTA~! – Bobbi
I’ve gotten requests in the past for demonstrating my daily make-up routine. Heaven knows why, ’cause most of the time I try and go for the “I’m not wearing any” look. Guess I fooled, oh … NO ONE. But that’s OK. Cause today I’m spilling my guts and showing you my 6 step daily routine for natural looking beautification. Great on its own … or as a base for more dramatic looks.
Step 1. Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. This is key for getting that dewy glow. Personally, I don’t have a favorite facial lotion … sometimes I even use body lotion {eek! BAD SYDNEY}, but the point is to just moisturize. Then, I like to use a little foundation primer {I use bareMinerals Prime Time} which LITERALLY goes on like silk and doesn’t leave you looking oily or overly shiny. Just evenly toned and dewy. And then I like to smother my lips in the super moisturizing {but with a pretty pink color} Korres Lip Butter in Jasmine. Or sometimes just good ol’ Vaseline. So anything goes.
Step 2. Brush on a little foundation and/or cover up. I like using Bare Minerals or Maybelline FIT. But most people are probably fancier than me, so go ahead and use your Laura Mercier. I shop at Walmart.
Step 3. To prevent ourselves from looking dead, next step is to liven it up with a bit of color. I use a combination of powdered bronzer {on my forehead, temples and cheeks} and gel blush {for those apples}. I normally get the knock-off brand of bronzer … they all look the same in my opinion. But I really like Maybelline’s Dream Mouse Blush in #20 Peach Satin. Goes on like butter. And keeps up with that dewy glow we were going for in step 1.
Step 4. is simple. I lightly pencil in my eyebrows and then use a little lipgloss to tame and shape them. Those things can be caterpillars. Step 5. Highlighter. I know there are other products out there that are SPECIFICALLY for highlighting, but I just use Sephora’s Eyeshadow in Aspen Summit. It’s multipurpose. You’ll pat this on with your finger into the inner rims of your eyes focusing especially on the area nearest your tear-ducts. This will just brighten up your eyes a bit and make you look wide-awake. Even if you’re faking it. Step 6. Last one. Just a few brushes of mascara on the top lashes only. I swear I change my mascara preferences every week. {Don’t they come out with a new one every week?} But right now I’m loving on Revlon’s 3D Extreme Mascara. Waterproof of course. Because I’m pregnant. And voila! You’re done. Subtle and natural. Like you’re definitely born with it; and no it’s not Maybelline. Even though it totally is.
Cheers natural beauties!

You look beautiful. I use a very similar routine. I never leave the house without make up but at the same time I’m all about natural looking minimalistic make up.

You look so pretty! I hope I have your glow when I’m pregnant. 🙂

This is super similar to my daily steps (except for the eyebrows–I might have to try that today!) but somehow it never comes out looking this good..

GREAT post, Sydney! You’ve inspired me to start trying a little harder with my own makeup (and to buy some new eyeshadow, woohoo!) : )
Heidi says
Awesome! I’m going to try the primer. If you buy it from Amazon, it’s five dollars cheaper than the Sephora site, plus shipping is free w/ prime and if you don’t like it, you can return it in 60 days for a full refund.

How did you style your hair in these pictures? My hair is my biggest problem it is long and pretty, but I no longer have an hour or more to sit and curl it with kids so it never looks pretty. I love the soft curls… please tell me how to do it!!!

I love this and will definitely give it a try! I’m the total opposite! I don’t wear makeup, but want to just enough to brighten up my skin and eyes a little! And I love that you’re very flexible and affordable when it comes to the products! This sounds like a perfect regimen for me!

Which brow pencil do you use?
Thanks for the peek into your make-up routine. As someone who is hopeless in that department, I love seeing how other people get “put together.” You look beautiful!

I love how your makeup looks! I looked up the eye shadow you used as a highlighter and it looks like they discontinued it. Is there something else you would recommend? Thanks!
Deana says
You look beautiful, but I would make a couple of suggestions. First of all, never use Vaseline on your face. Vaseline is a petroleum product and can be very toxic to your body. Second, I would not suggest body lotion for your face; but definitely moisturize!
