Remember when I first introduced you to my office? Can I even call it an office? It was so bare, so plain, so uninspiring. Paralyzed by my fear of choosing a paint color, I neglected this space that held so much potential.
That was until I discovered Chip It!, a program that saved this room and helped me select a color palette from a photo online! I chose to go with this color inspiration:
With this palette, I was able to bring life into this space once again.
Now, are you ready to see the much improved office?
Drum roll, please …
Ta-da!
Can I just say transformation?
Once I chose my Chip It! color scheme, I headed over to a Sherwin-Williams store and chose an accent color for the wall. Inspired by the Faraway Blue in the palette, I chose a slightly darker color called Breaktime. Wanting to brighten the room, I painted the ceiling and moldings a white color called Creamy.
Opening that fresh can of paint and rolling the first stroke of color onto the wall was all so scary yet freeing, as I finally committed to a color!
Next, I wanted to find a piece of furniture that brought in some vintage element to balance the modern elements in the room. I also wanted to create a space where I could get away and read. So I found this lovely couch:
… and this lovely fabric.
… and had it upholstered to look like this:

I added framed photos, quotes and words, all inspired by the colors from the palette.
I call this my inspiration wall.
Still wanting a place to create, I decided to keep the desk but moved it to the empty wall where two chairs used to be.
I hung some metal frames that I filled with a few instagram photos.
I also couldn’t resist buying this bright piece of art because the words resonated with me and because it just happened to have the right colors.

On the accent wall, I added shelving to display my vintage camera collection and other meaningful items. Once again, I used colors from my palette to guide me.
And last but not least, I replaced the bean bag that took up too much space with this:

I love the view of the treetops outside my window and the fact that the TV is in a room away from the living room and other rooms where family and friends gather, that way we focus on each other when we get together. Wow, where do I start. First of all, I saw the video on how the “chip it” tool works and LOVE it. I’ll be putting that tool on my lap top, for sure. Now, which room needs a face lift? If I *had* to pick a room, I’d go with the master bedroom. It’s got amazing potential–high, vaulted ceiling, lots of windows… and amazing drawbacks–like a full wall of mirrored closet doors. Ugh.
If I could pick more than just one room, my whole first floor is pretty much open, and there are some weird neutral tones going on. 3 walls in each room are the same color, with the 4th a little bit off… and none of the colors are the same from room-to-room, in spite of the fact that the space is pretty wide open. Double ugh! And the color weirdness carries up the stairs and into the landing at the top of the stairs and into the bathroom. Chip It would help me pick some intentionally complementary colors, rather than just taking every shade of brown-cream-taupe-off white and slapping them up willy nilly.

Looks fantastic!! Love the wall color. I’ve been jonesing to turn the sitting room off my kitchen into a crafting room 🙂 the challenge is…its literally a part of the kitchen and leads to our back porch…so i have to get creative with it!!

There are several rooms that I need to work on but probably the one that should be top on the list is my dining room. I took layers of old wallpaper off ages ago but am still in the freeze mode when it comes to what color. I like the chip idea and need to find some inspiration pictures to chip!

I’m in a great need of using Chip it in our master. I have this great piece of art I’ve been wanting to use forever but moving every two years (military) it’s not been possible to always paint. This time we are moving back into a place we own and can do whatever we want.

Great make over!!! Id love to make over more than one room/ need to make over multiple rooms, and update the cheep collage stuff, but Id have to say the bedroom would be the most important. Its the first thing you see when you get up and the last thing before you go to bed.
