Getting Dressed for Mother’s Day : Spring Fashion and Beauty Pieces That Are Worth The Money

It doesn’t matter what your shape or size or hair color. Every woman likes to look nice, and although nice can be interpreted differently, we’ve put together a few Spring fashion and beauty pieces that are WORTH the money (whatever the price) and you can rock to Mother’s Day brunch, or a celebratory dinner recognizing a mom you love. It’s your special day. OWN IT.
(And, just a side note, these items are necessarily supposed to be worn TOGETHER…just in case you thought I’d lost my mind. These are just great items that you deserve to spoil yourself with.)

1. This Floral Wrap Dress.

You know what’s funny? I never really thought about buying many clothes off Amazon until I realized that most of the clothing on Amazon can be returned FREE with Prime.  This is awesome because sometimes, it can be hit or miss. This dress? A HIT! First off, I personally own it. I wore it to my son’s baptism and I loved it so much, I got it in another color. Obviously, it’s Spring perfection with the floral options, but let’s talk about why else I love it. It’s a wrap dress. I love a good wrap. I feel like it has a slimming effect, and if you’re a nursing mama (or plan to be at any time), wrap dresses are clutch. I chose to wear a cami with my dress due to the fact I have the chest of a 12 year old boy, which creates a gap. If you can fill it out, go for it (and I’m jealous). The dress is on the longer side, so if you’re short, you might need to take the length in a bit OR try a shorter version of the dress HERE. Really though, this dress is pretty and it’s perfect for your special day.

2. The comfy dressier shoes

I personally wear my floral wrap dress with these shoes, of which I am equally in love. Would you believe they are SUPER comfy? I honestly didn’t expect them to be, but I was so happily surprised. I wear them with dresses as I said, but they also look KILLER with skinnies and a cute top.  I also LOVE THESE shoes. Also incredibly comfortable and on trend and maybe more fitting for those of you who prefer classic over trendy!

2. These Athletic Shoes
If you’re like me, you like comfort and you like ease. These shoes are the epitome of both. They literally walked me all over SE Asia for a week and I didn’t get a blister or suffer a bit of discomfort. They’re also darling AND the best part? You can slip them on. Know how you often don’t slip your whole foot actually into the shoe when you run out and get the mail or RUSH to the bus stop 5 minutes behind schedule? Am I the only one? I’ve ruined so many sneakers doing this! These shoes are super flexible and don’t distort when you’re too lazy to put them on all the way.  Plus they’re really fun colors totally appropriate for Spring/Summer. I do not recommend wearing these with your new pretty floral dress from above. That would be silly, BUT throw these on with your yoga pants or jean shorts and you’re sassy and comfortable. 3. This Necklace

I’m calling this the statement necklace of Spring…Oh, and Summer, Fall, and why not Winter while we’re at it? It’s a powerful statement, but it also has an element of delicacy. I. am. obsessed. Rock this that hot dinner date your man is taking you on to celebrate your motherhood, or womanhood. If you’re thinking that be a little too much for you (it’s not!), THIS is another fave.

4. This Bag
I can not get over the amount of beautiful Spring bags out right now. I’m seeing several trends…pastel colors (of course), perforated designs, and SCALLOPS. They are so feminine and beautiful. Shoot, I should probably do a whole post just about them, but FOCUS, Andrea. Let’s talk about how you need THIS one. Under $50, and all the right details. Plus, it’s a tote which means you can fit in 48783 diapers, 24 Capri Suns, and maybe even a little extra room for your stuff. (#Momlife) If you want to splurge a little more, this one has me all heart eyes. The colors! The KATE!

5. These Sunglasses

I’m going to go out on a fashion limb here and just admit…I don’t like spending lots of money on sunglasses. I once had a pair of expensive sunglasses. They’re somewhere in a HUGE field where I accidentally left them after a Toby Keith concert. I was dating my now husband, and bawled like a baby. He probably thought I was crazy…which is partially right…but still married me. Lesson learned. Andrea can’t do expensive sunglasses.
The problem has only intensified with 5 kids. I sit on them. They sit on them. I drop them when putting kids in car seats. They get stepped on. It’s almost as dangerous as my Iphone in terms of breaking! Point being? Find cheap good ones, and that I have. These $12 diddies will have you looking like you spent hundreds without the stress of losing/breaking etc. I personally own and love the rose gold version, because rose gold is life.

6. This Ring
I really don’t have much to say about this ring except I LOVE it AND it’s on sale. I’m all about bold, yet classic pieces and this is all of the above qualifications.

7. This Top

I had to throw one more in here because everyone needs a solid shirt choice. This is just that. It’s feminine. It’s wearable. It comes in several colors. It’s not a bad price point. I wore it awhile ago and everyone was asking where I got it. Bell/ruffled sleeves might be a little out of your comfort zone  and might have you feeling a little like a flamenco dancer, but I PROMISE you’ll be cool and FEEL cool wearing it. 😉

Now, I hope I’m not overwhelming you yet. I know there are a LOT of choices, but just know I’ve picked the best of the best.

This is not going to be a full out face or look. I’m not going to give you any tutorials….and want to know a secret? I’m a drug store makeup believer. There are SOME things I will spend money on, but truly, I don’t think you have to spend $80 on a bottle of foundation to look smokin’ hot on Mother’s Day.

Here are just a few things that will leave you feeling, and looking a little special on Mother’s Day.

1.  NYX illluminator

Remember back in the day when everyone wore cyber glitter? I remember going to middle school dances blinged and glitzed out like a unicorn crossed with a mermaid. It was bad. BUT, a girl likes her shimmer, and this is a GROWN UP version. 
Really though, it’s the most subtle, beautiful glisten. I am totally convinced this is the secret sauce for that perfected and finished look. Just brush a little on your upper cheekbones, and you will have that healthy glow of Spring. Be aware: some of these are a bronzer too. I don’t personally use that kind; although I’m sure they are awesome. My favorite is called “enigmatic” and is a light pink tint.

2. Fake Bake Darker Sunless Tanner
Orange, no more…thanks to this stuff. I’ve raved about it before, so I’ll keep raving. It goes on smooth and leaves you with a healthy tan and no sun damage. Just be sure to exfoliate beforehand and use THIS mitt for a smooth application. I know it’s another $17, but it’s 100% worth it!

3. Heaven in a Bottle
I recently became addicted to this and I’m never going back. First of all, it smells like HEAVEN. I’m not kidding. I want them to make it into a perfume that I can spray my whole body with – it’s that good. It also leaves my normally coarse and frizzy hair so much more smooth and shiny. I feel like it’s much more light weight than oils I’ve tried in the past.  A little bottle will last you forever. Just put a pea size amount in your damp hair and work through the ends in particular. I even put the tiniest bit in my daughters’ hair because it also cuts down on drying time DRASTICALLY.

4. This Straightener

I’m a curly haired girl with a LOT of course hair (It’s blown dry straight in first picture above). When I say a straightener works….I MEAN it. I have been through my share of them.
