Two weeks ago I gave a few tips on “How to Dress Your Man” and today I wanted to apply menswear to women! What better way to enhance your accessory/clothing collection than to use your man’s? I find myself telling my husband everyday how cute I think he looks. I realized that it’s the simple accessories he wears that really add to his look. I decided to try to look as cute as him by wearing his things. On a casual, comfy day, I will wear one of his cardigans or even a sweater, and today I want to show you a few looks I was able to pull off with some of his things!
The first is his sweater/cardigan.
If you’re going to wear a mans shirt, sweater, or button-up, dress it up with jewelry or something else feminine. In this case, I used a chunky necklace and a belt to show off a little bit of figure.
The second is his bow tie.
I have the Kardashians to thank for using the bow tie. I went shopping while wearing this outfit and I was told by a store attendant that several girls had been asking for bow ties. I think it might be a new trend. (hint hint)
My third look is his grandpa hat.
I call this the grandpa hat because every time I’ve worn it, without fail, an older man will tell me he really likes my hat. There are fedoras specifically for women, but why buy one when I can wear his? 🙂
My last look is his chunky watch.
I had been wanting a gold chunky watch for awhile, but my husband ended up buying one for himself. And now I wear it more than he does. Again, there are girl versions of this watch, but sharing is a great way to save a little moolah.
These pictures were taken at different times, but his gold watch is seen in all of them as my accessory.
I think this is an easier version of thrifting. Let me know your thoughts! What “manly” thing will YOU wear?
The Real Person!
Ha…what a fun post! The only thing I wear of my hubbies is his sweatshirts. Drives him crazy, but I think he secretly likes it. I need to dig deeper in his closet now. Thanks for teh great post!!

I love this post! so darling, and I love wearing my hubby’s grey leather jacket over a simple wrap dress. Cute and easy to give it a bit of flair! Great inspiration on the pics as well 🙂

Won’t work for me, there is too big of a difference between us. :-/ I do wear his old sweaters or some times his jackets but I appear to be drowning. I do like your ideas though, very cute.

Thanks Becca! I know there is usually a big size difference between a male and a female.. maybe try using some of his accessories? Hats, watches, scarfs, sunglasses, cologne? Haha I will shamelessly admit that I’ve used my hubbies cologne on occasion 🙂
The Real Person!
So fun darlene! I LOVE wearing hubbies sweatshirts but like alison have not ventured further than that…I will have to go shopping in his closet and see what I find. A little treasure hunt. 🙂

You have inspired me to dig a little deeper in my husband’s closet to see what treasures I can find. Unfortunately, he is 6 foot 4 and I am about an entire foot shorter than him so it is hard to find something that works- but perhaps I could make some of his shirts into a summer dress!?
I do however love stealing his hats and his patterned socks from his sock drawer! 🙂
Thanks for the ideas!
