Most of you have probably never seen this post. It debuted when HowDoesShe was just two months old. We are bringing it back,…just in time for Valentine’s Day!
Now,…I may or MAY not have had to erase some of our ‘shower love notes’ before taking these pictures. 😉
Shower Love Notes make me smile! This is the funnest way to keep a romance alive. Someone gave me a box of shower crayons for my bridal shower almost 8 years ago {yikes}! -Now, the first thing I do when I hop in the shower is look for a new love note ‘to me: from him’. Sometimes they are just a simple ‘I love you’, sometimes its a note of encouragement, sometimes its a ‘thank you’, and sometimes it just may be suggestive. 😉 You get the idea!
You can get Crayola BathTub Crayons at CrayolaStore.com
. I used to find them at Walmart, but they’ve been missing lately. I’ve noticed crayola markers there, but they just don’t work the same (they bleed). Maybe try Target? -BurbMom has a recipe for shower paint that you could also give a try (If you try it, let me know if it ‘writes’ well)!
I always keep several of these on hand in my ‘gift box’ to give out as bridal shower gifts (usually paired with towels, bubble bath, loufas, etc).
If you are stuck trying to find Valentine ideas , this very affordable and sweet Valentine’s day gift is perfect! Get ready for a playful romance.

Updated * Congratulations to Kathy Stephenson, Jane T in Louisiana and Janick Desjardins on winning sets of shower crayons. I just emailed you, so please respond with you address asap. 🙂

When I read the original post long ago I have been doing this ever since for my hubby. He hasn’t reciprocated once but I really enjoy doing this for him.

Hi there! I tried the Crayola brand crayons and was disappointed. Whenever I’d try to write a note to my sweetie, they wouldn’t work on my tile…perhaps my tile is too glossy. The writing would come out really faint and then the steam in the shower would make it run. Oh well….would love to give it a try with another brand though. Love the idea!
Carol says

Laura Farnsworth says
super cute idea!! another idea I got from a marriage cd that I got was to keep a notebook where you write love notes or thank you notes in with your spouse. I have started it with my husband. We write each other cutsie notes and then leave it for the other on the kitchen table or night stand for the other to read and return a note. That way we have all the cute notes in one place to save.
shana says
We had these in the shower in my dorm in college, but I haven’t had any since. A great Valentine idea. Thanks!
Blessings,
Shana

Kelly Brick says
Thank you for this amazing idea! It’s so fun it makes me feel like a kid and I’m excited to hop in the shower to see what sort of note my hubby left me that day. Some days they’re average, some days they’ll silly and every once in a while they’re steamy. This is such a simple and easy way to leave a love note for the one you love, for some reason busting out a pen and paper can be hard but this is easy and FUN! We’ve had our crayons for a week and we’ve written so much that I might have to buy more for Valentine’s Day. You should remind your readers of this post, it’s a very affordable and sweet Valentine’s day gift and we all know we could use “affordable” ideas in this economy.
Aimee says
I love this idea! I was at Kroger’s today and found both the markers and the crayons. I couldn’t remember which one you had recommended so I went with the markers, oh well.

I love this idea!
Question- When giving the shower crayons as a wedding present do you include a note to say how you personally use them and how fun it is? I would like to give them as a gift but am afraid that my friend would be like, “why are you giving me children’s bathtub crayons?”
Shelley says
I either tuck in a note, or when she opens it, tell her how it is fun in your marriage (or mine ;)). Feel free to direct her to this post! 🙂
Christie says
I saw this trick over at Love Actually and went and bought some crayons on eBay straight away! I’ve just received them and can’t wait to have a shower tomorrow morning! You’ve got a brand new fan in Melbourne Australia…keep the ideas coming!

This is a cute idea… I had a similar idea (haven’t done it yet, but this reminded me); I thought about writing a love note/letter and having it laminated and hanging it in the shower. Should be fun 🙂

What a great idea! I made a little dry erase board for the master bath that my hubby and I write messages to each other on, but I LOVE the shower idea. 🙂 Thank you! Always a fun site-my guilty pleasure… 🙂
Jenny says
I actually thought of this the other day. My daughter has bath markers, so I thought “why not write a note to hubby”. He never said anything about it, but he had to have seen it the next morning. Oh well.
I also write things on his sandwich bags or napkin for his lunch.
Amy Eaton says
I have also use the window markers I believe made by crayola for the mirror…it has been awhile I need get some more….love your site:)
Jill says
I love this!!! My hubby and I often leave eachother messages on the bathroom mirror with dry-erase markers, but now we can be a bit steamier without the chance of someone else seeing it!!!!
nancy ward says
we just celebrated our 35th wedding aniversary on the 18th. we used the same idea writing in the steam of the mirror. i going to do this, because now we actually have a bathroom that is adults only! well except for Holiday breaks when the house fills up and no bathroom is private. the oldest daughter is getting married 10/01/10, maybe i can make her blush at her shower.
Ali says
Oh dear, do I dare get these for my husband? He’ll be in there all day! We used to do dry erase marker notes on the bathroom mirror but noticed when it got steamy that we could still see some of the old messages. This will be much better, if we can keep the kids out of our bathroom.
Natalie Kay says
LOVE this idea! Maybe this can replace the “i love you” pitcher of cold water over the shower curtain. =) I don’t know if I’ll get that lucky, but I can’t pass up on this fun idea! Thanks for the post!

Shelley says
I just checked the packaging and Crayloa says “Product may stain unporous surfaces such as UNsealed tile grout. Test on a small area first”. I think they would be fine,…but just test it out first. Does anyone else know the answer for sure? I don’t have fancy shmancy tile! {not yet at least} 😉

Does it come off fairly easily? I love my husband, but I don’t want to spend my days scrubbing tiled walls if I can avoid it.

What a great idea! I loved the idea of leaving notes for my husband, but I am equally excited about leaving notes for my children. I used to send notes in my kids lunches until they got too old. Now I can give a little encouragement in the morning without the embarrassment factor. That is a great thing for the precarious teenage years.
