Homemade Granola
My sweet husband found my mom’s homemade granola recipe, made it, and put a big ziplock bag of it in my Christmas Stocking {yes he has his adorable moments}! My bag was devoured by many in about one day. I have been craving it ever since. I knew I had to make, and share, my mom’s famous granola recipe.
It is as delicious as it looks.
Mom’s Homemade Granola
Ingredients:
-12 C Quick Cooking Oats
-1/2 C Flour
-1 T Cinnamon
-1/2 t Nutmeg
-4 C Random dry ingredients (I use raisins, coconut flakes, sunflower seeds, slivered almonds, small chocolate chips, peanut butter chips.)
-1 C Vegetable Oil
-1 C Honey
—
{I like to buy all of my dry ingredients from the bulk section of my grocery store, making this healthy treat inexpensive}
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all of the ingredients but oil and honey. Mix oil and honey and microwave until hot. Pour oil and honey mixture over dry ingredients and mix well. Spread mix over 3 baking sheets and bake until lightly golden brown on top (appx 20 min).
Let cool, then break up into chunks.
I knew my sweet friend that just had a baby would love a healthy snack. I made a cone shaped gift box, filled it with granola, and I ran this over to her.
Your family will love you for making this! Just make sure you set aside a special ziplock bag ‘just for you’!

I am a huge fan of granola and I’m happy to find a recipe that has ‘bunches’ of granola instead of only loose crumbs. I love the crunchy texture best. THANK YOU for sharing your family’s recipe!

Make sure to cook it good and long then! Let is cool before braking it up and you are sure to get some chunks in there! 🙂

Wonderful recipe! If you can find ‘cinnamon chips’ at the grocery store, they are wonderful in this treat.

Hey!
I just made some of this yummy granola. Thanks for the recipe. I used canola oil and agave nectar instead of the honey. Agave nectar is good because it doesn’t spike your blood sugar like Honey does. My kids love this healthy snack!

Just to make sure about the dry ingredients – 4 cups total? If I use chocolate chips, peanut chips, raisins, almonds then it would be 1 cup of each?
Shelley says
Use whatever proportions you’d like to add up to 4 cups. Could be 2 C chocolate chips, 1/2 raisins,…WHATEVER! I don’t follow this exactly. I just grab some yummy stuff and throw it in,…it ends up being appx 4 cups. Hope this helps! 🙂

How much canola oil and agave nectar? Where can you find agave nectar?
Laura Hill says
I just tried to make granolas but its not sticking together. Does it mean I need to cook it longer? It was hard stirring all the stuff and I am not sure there was enough oil and honey to make it stick together. Is it supposed to stick??
