Let’s be honest, as cute as shoes are on babies under the age of one, they simply aren’t that practical. They are bulky, they fall off, and they serve no purpose (but to be cute). Whoever made up ‘shoe socks’ makes me happy. Cute and Practical! Once I got my hands on a few pairs of these, I felt a project coming on. Do you remember the petal party post a while back? I have tons of adorable flowers laying around from my little party. I bought these adorable Trumpette Mary Jane Socks, grabbed some flowers, and added a dab of hot glue in just the right spot…
EASY!!! Now those are some adorable toes. And because two sets of feet are even cuter than one… {this picture was almost impossible to take! Me, the camera, trying to hold four legs still,…the things I do for you guys! ;)}Wouldn’t these make the most adorable personalized baby shower gift? Did I mention how easy this project was? Mine came out to be around $4.00 a pair.
I can’t tell you how often my girls’ toes get complimented when my they have these show stoppers on.
I wonder if I could make some in my size?! 😉
We love linking up our projects with THESE FABULOUS LINK PARTIES! Thanks for hosting Gals!

Trumpette also make a boy version that looks like a pair of chucks and little cowboy boots, my son got tons of compliments on them. You can find other brands on amazon (sometimes ebay) and Target often sells something similar. Good luck.

I added a link where it says ‘TRUMPETTE MARY JANE SOCKS’ on Amazon, but I have also seen a less expensive version at Macy’s and maybe Walmart? Did I really? I can’t remember for sure! 😉

Speaking as a crafter, I wondered if it would be possible to dye the socks to look like shoes if you can’t find them already made? Perhaps some of the soft fabric paints… Love the flower idea.. so cute!
Philip says
Very cute. We opted to just let our little ones live barefooted or sockfooted until they started walking. We couldn’t find any good reason to buy shoes. These are kind of the best of both worlds. Thanks!

Won’t the flower fall off when you wash them if you use hot glue? Just wondering.

I’ve washed them several times and they are still on. If you are concerned though,…just put a simple stitch through the center of the flower. 🙂

My little girl had those socks in all colors! Now I have a little boy…what clever thing can you come up with for them? 🙂
Love your blog! Claire

For a boy, you could add a button to each side. I know Joann’s have cute animal shaped buttons like alligators, or even trucks/cars. I wouldn’t use hot glue on the buttons but sew them on to ensure there is no worries for them coming off due to choking hazards if they fall off.
