Last year I threw a School Themed Bridal Shower for my sister because she was marrying her high school sweetheart, and she’s a teacher. The big hit at the shower was a cute treat that I want to share with you today!
Oreo Cheesecake Truffles, dressed up to look like apples. Aren’t they cute?
My mom & I worked together on these with a recipe from a friend of ours that is so simple & so delicious!
Want to try them? I thought so! 😉
Ingredients
- 44 Oreo cookies with creme inside (you could use the white oreos or the regular ones)
- 8 oz of Cream cheese (one block) room temperature
- 1 1/2 pkg of milk chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup semi sweet chocolate chips (instead of chocolate chips, we used red melting chocolate)
Instructions
- Grind up Oreos. (If you’re making regular truffles, you can save 1/2 cup to sprinkle on the tops later).
- Mix cream cheese and oreos. Form 1 inch balls. Refrigerate for at least an hour. (minimizes crumbs)
- Melt chocolate and dip balls.
- Sprinkle crumbs or decorate with white melted chocolate or whatever else you want!
To make ours look like apples, here’s what we did:
We used a skewer stick to poke a hole in the balls:
We dipped pretzel sticks into the holes, to be the stem. The stem doubled as a dipping stick:
Dip…
Then we put them on waxed paper to dry (and stuck a green jelly belly on there for a leaf, before the chocolate started to dry)
I definitely recommend these!
You could use them for all kinds of back-to-school reasons! I hope you try them- they’re so yummy!

These are adorable! Perfect for back to school classroom parties or teacher gifts!

To clarify, if you do the red melting chocolate, that is in place of the milk chocolate chips?
Heather Lynne says
Yes, that’s right 🙂

How many does this recipe approximately make.

I was wondering how many this recipe makes? I am going to make some for my sons teacher, but I only need about 2 dozen and I need to know if the recipe should be cut in half. Thanks!

These are so adorable. Thanks so much for posting this!
I got about the same number of truffles as cookies (I got 43 from the recipe as written). FYI, there were 39 cookies in a regular package of Oreos (not double stuff).

What makes the red color in the coating for the mini apples??
The recipe simply calls for dipping them in chocolate!
(This is my first time experiencing your writing/ideas, etc. …LOVE!!! 😀 )

Hi Lori,
You can buy red “candy melts” (little round pieces of red chocolate) for melting. I found mine in bulk- Wilton also sells them in packages (I’ve seen them at Michaels).

You might want to clarify the amount of melting chocolate needed to make these, based off of my experience I am assuming that if making the apples you would need to get enough of the red melts to account for the 1and 1/2 packages of milk chocolate chips and the 1/4 cup of semisweet morsels. It was very unclear!

How many cups of chocolate morsels/red melting wafers were in the 11/2 packages you used?
