Hi Guys. We’re gonna take a little break from the style posts for a sec. Is that OK? I figured that since I’m gonna be stickin’ around here for a bit, we should probably get to know each other a little. Want to? I’ll go first.
Hi. I’m Sydney.
“HIIIIII SYDNEYYYYYY”
I’m married to Tyson — happily so for almost 3 years. He’s the business brain, and I’m the artsy fartsy one.
We live in Idaho. {Kind of like imprisoned in Idaho .. but not} And we are very happy to be moving eastward this summer.
We also try to make a habit of finding cute old cars to laze about in on a regular basis.
We feel most natural that way.
I take pictures incessantly. And believe it or not, most of them are not of me.
{Cue next move : ah yes. A picture of me.}
I think strawberries are disgusting and I never eat them.
And I’m a big fan of hats.
Awesome.
So let’s get down to the more interesting stuff shall we? Like you. I want to know what you’re interested in peeps. Believe it or not, it’s a little intimidating coming to a new place like this and throwing stuff out there, hoping it’ll be helpful and interesting but not really knowing.
So that’s where you come in. Can we be friends? You tell me about you. Where you’re from, single/married, kids/no kids, favorite color {OK scratch that. “Favorite color” is like the worst question ever} and what your interests are! I want to be able to interact with you and provide you with new ideas and inspiration to look and feel your best! So along with all those good little tid-bits about yourself, answer me this. Out of the following 4 choices … what would you be the most interested in seeing on Fridays:
– Fashion
– How-to Tutorials
– Spicy date night ideas and other of life’s tidbits
– Beauty
Or some other awesome thing that I can’t think of cause it’s 15 minutes past my bedtime.
Let’s hear it!
I can’t wait to get to know you guys. Honest to goodness … cross my heart … poke my eyeballs out or something {that’s how it goes right?}
I’ll be reading!
Nici says
Hi Sydney, I’m Nici. Nicetahmeetchya!
I’m from Wisconsin, where we have cheese and cold, miserable weather.
I’m in a relationship.
I don’t have kids but I’m about to acquire a step son (long story on how once goes about “acquiring” children) and am expecting a baby girl due in May. Let’s hear it for going from no kids to 2 kids in no time at all!
My interests? I love kids, crafts, video games, the internet, crocheting, knitting, cosmetology, fashion, and writing. I like learning new things too and often teach myself how to do things. Lots of determination and boredom contribute to that.
And hmmmmm what would I like to see on Fridays? Well I really want to say Fashion, strictly due to the fact that Fashion and Friday both start with “F” but I’ll go against that and pick How-To Tutorials. I love me some tutorials.
So that’s me in a couple little paragraphs. It was nice getting to know you! =)
Nada Gamil says
WOW 2 kids,it’s a good thing you love kids then…..Congrats!!!=)
Jacque Charwood says
Hiiiiii Sydneeeeeeeeeeeeeey!!!
I’m married to a Marine, we have 2 kids, ages 12 (going on 12) and 7 (going on 20). We’re stationed at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. While we have no snow, it’s FREEZING! (literally… it’s 32…) So unlike normal temps this time of year. We have 2 retired Greyhounds, and a barkalotapus of an American Eskimo dog.
I would just like to say, whatever you do, be it tutorials (yes please!), date ideas (got any on the cheap??), or beauty (do I really NEED to brush my hair?!), I would welcome it all! I’m on the edge of being crafty. When I see something that you guys do I can do it, but, as of right this moment, I can’t visualize things in my head first.
My color blind, Native American hubby does a better job of picking out colors and things that go together than I am… but… he’s the artsy fartsy one! I’m the tomboy that likes to get her hands dirty and has a hidden girly side! (don’t tell, k?)
We bought our house (modular home… stick built houses here are MONDO expensive!!) almost 2 years ago, and we still have the terrible paint that the former owners put in… (help!! mostly dark browns, reds, and oranges!!) We have some things planned, but, we got ourselves into some debt when we first got married (2 1/2 years ago) and we’re now digging ourselves out.
Okay… now that I’ve overshared… I think it’s the next persons turn…

I would love to see fashion and tutorials. I love learning to make things after my little one goes to sleep.

Hi Sydney, I’m Teri. I am a mom of 2 (4 yr. old boy and 2 yr. old girl), but I also have 2 girls (10 and 7) who were adopted from China, that we inherited from a friend that passed away recently (August from a brain tumor, read more on my blog).
I am married, celebrating 10 years this September. We live in Ohio and enjoy all 4 seasons.
I love your posts because I have no fashion sense and no budget to try to buy one. I loved you post on the thrift top turned fabulous!!

Hey, Sydney! Sheila here. I have 2 grown kids, live in GA, love chocolate and fried chicken, though probably not together- well, maybe…. I’m always interested in how-to’s, never too old to learn, right?

Howdy! I’m from Texas, obviously. I’m the divorced mother on a one year old Muffin. She’s not really a Muffin, we just call her that! LOL! I’m obsessed with DIY and how-tos! I love a flea market find. I’m a very edgy fashionista. I guess that’s about it..I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

I am a stay-at-home of 4 under the age of 9. I live in Idaho and orginally from Colorado. I love to craft, meet new people, find fun things for us to do everyday that is free/cheap and just enjoy the life I have. Since I am home all day my fashion has gone down the drain. I would love fashion, and how to tutorials. Just something extra to make me feel special and cute!!! Thanks!

Hi Sydney~
I am a wife (almost 11 years), a hockey mom (4 girls – 17, 10, 7 & 4), work with my husband in our own cabinetry business, we live in the great state of Minnesota (trying to convince myself of this when it is freezing cold – although the summers are the best!) – that’s me in a nut shell.
Fashion & beauty – need quick get ready tips, hair styles & make up options.
Looking forward to ready many more of your posts!!

Hey Sidney!
I Love your posts. You are just gorgeous, and really seem to know what you are talking about!
I am a mother of three (a boy 7, a girl 5, and a boy 16 months), turning 30 this year, love to swim, read, sing, laugh, and play with my children, and I really LOVE bright colors. I get lots of enjoyment out of my life, but…the ‘ol’ grey goose, she ain’t what she used to be’ if you know what I’m saying. My *twins* are in a race to see which one can get to my belly button first, which sticks out a bit farther than it used to. While my husband loves the ‘mommy cushioning’ I’ve developed, I have no idea how to adapt my much loved fashion choices of yesteryear to my now mommy-ish body. Even barring any weight loss in the for-see-able future, I seriously doubt I’ll ever be shaped quite the same. I would love advice on how to adapt my fashion choices to my ever-aging body! I know a woman can be sexy at any age, but I don’t really feel sexy in jeans and sweats and t-shirts (which have become my comfort zone – no pun intended). And, I’m not 16 anymore. I want to feel like an individual again, like my appearance reflects me! But, I want to do it right, for my body type and for my age!! Thanks for your thoughts. You are great!!

Hi Sydney!
I believe I’m your first Canadian commenter on this site – yay for me! The weight of the nation rests on my shoulders…
Well I’m from the Toronto area – married to my best friend for almost 9 years. have the “millionaire” family with a 6yo boy and 3yo girl. Also a little pug named Tucker. She’s adorable
I would love to see spicy date night ideas and other life’s tidbits, although i do enjoy the tutorials because I have no clue when it comes to a lot of things in life…not joking.
Nice to meet you!

Hi, Becca here. I am married, 6 years in May. Expecting our first peanut in Sept. Just got the 1st ultrasound this morning! Very exciting. I love my jeans, tee shirts & tennies (am working on that girly side though) I would be interested in pregnancy & post pregnancy style. Loved your post on colors. I am wanting to try something like that someday when I get the nerve!

Hi Sydney! I feel like I know you, but only because I came across your website via BYUStyle AND HowDoesShe…looks like we run in the same crowd! 😉
I’m a recent college grad, now stay-at-home mom of a 6 month old little girl. We live in Utah while my husband finishes his degree. We’ve been married for 2 1/2 years, and we’re looking forward to the rest of eternity together!
I’m interested in how-to tutorials…I like seeing how other people approach projects.

Hi Sydney! (great name by the way… same as my cousin’s daughter and she’s a gem!!)
I am a mother of 3 BOYS (ages 17, almost 15, and soon after 12), married to the most wonderful man for almost 21 years. We are a career military family…. in fact there has only been 13 months in my ENTIRE life where I was not either a military dependent or active duty myself. We are currently living in Indiana after spending almost 5 years in the “wilderness” of Alaska!! I love our four seasons here!!!
Definitely fashion and beauty…. because at 46 I still haven’t gotten it figured out. I was NEVER a girly girl so make-up is definitely a novel idea to me. I like wearing a little but must admit its been almost 10 years since I’ve even bought eye shadow or lipstick. (it was time to throw it out…) And fashion… well let’s just say its gotten to the point of me taking my 17 year old son and my husband shopping with me in order to pick out nice clothes!! They have GREAT tastes!! Plus it can sometimes be hard to remember what its like to be girly when you are surrounded by so much testosterone!!

I also enjoy reading posts on fashion as it is fun to see what others are doing and how to put things together! Thanks so much for your great blog……..Jackie

Hi Sydney! I’m Missy’s (as in the Missy from this blog) younger sister and think you are a fabulous addition to this site. I love your posts and think you are stunning! I’m loving all the fashion tips so keep those coming! I do look forward to the day that you have children and can speak to dressing nursing chests. 😉 It’s tricky and I need help!
About me: I live in Denver, CO. I just turned 30 and went skydiving with my husband to celebrate. (it took the sting of turning 30 away just a bit) I have an almost 3 year old boy and a 7 month old daughter. I used to work on Wall Street, but now stay at home with my kids full time & love it!
Again love the fashion posts/tips. Keep them coming!!! Although I’m sure I’d love any of your posts. You make me laugh! Can we be friends? 🙂

Love this post!
I’m Lauren, no nicknames because Laur-Laur sounds ridiculous. I’ve been in real estate for several years but my real passion is middle school math 🙂 I’ve went back to school (ugh) and will be finishing soon! My significant boyfriend and I just built a house last year in Central KY. He’s an engineer working on his PhD at UK (go Cats!). We’ll do the whole marriage thing when we’re both done with school… one day. What kind of camera do you have? We just invested in a Canon Rebel and I’m excited/intimidated by its awesome-ness. I love all things crafts and just recently got my sewing machine, Darla, out of her 6 year-old box. My favorite stitch is the scallop. I love wine and dogs. No kids yet but plenty of friends who have them so I break my baby fever in an afternoon. We have two mutts who are the loves of my life (even though we had to upgrade from a queen to king bed because I’m a pushover and all 140 lbs of them are in the bed every night).
I would love to see tutorials because I can’t get enough of them! I also love the date night idea!

Hello Sydney –
So nice to meet you. What a fun post idea. I’m from Idaho, a wife, and a mother.
Love all the posts on HowDoesShe but am really needing the great quick fashion tips you give and would love to see some beauty tips too. As a mother of three toddlers, who are now two, three, and four, there isn’t a lot of time in my days to spend on myself. Would love to see ideas on how to create looks that are simple, quick, and easy on the pocket book but look like I have a sense of fashion.
Can’t wait for next Friday’s post!

Hi Syndney!
I LoVE reading your posts! I so look forward to Friday’s!
I’m Valerie. I live in Arizona (love it!) but I’m an Oregonian at heart (born and raised). I’m married with four kids. My hobbies include reading, crafting, cooking, shopping…and kids? 🙂 I really don’t know where I find time for any of these things 😉 (jk)
I can’t pick just one thing I’d love see you post about on Fridays. I really want to hear more about fashion. I feel like I get behind with having four kids and end up wearing loungy pants most of the day (not cool!) Your posts have been very inspirational and I need to get back to being me again! I also really love tutorials!
Thank you for all the great ideas you’ve posted!

Hi Sydney!
I am a stay at home mom and live in Las Vegas. I have been married to my best friend for 4 years and we have 3 boys 3 and under. I am into blogging, scrapbooking, crafting, inexpensive date nights or girls nights, making cute inexpensive gifts for my boys or other family, the outdoors, couponing, and cooking.
On Friday’s I would like to see date night ideas for sure, tutorials (always looking for something new to make), please refresh me on beauty and fashion skills. I feel like with 3 boys I am always in a hurry to get ready and that taking my time is not an option. Sorry I picked them all but honestly, I want to know about them all.

Helloooo there Sydney.
So I have been obsessively pooring over your mega-cute blog for the last couple days, during work…gotta love when the boss man is outta town.
ANYWAY I love it I think you are so adorable.
I have been married for a year and three weeks now and I am lovin it.
We live in Brigham City, UT we have a walmart a shopko and a DI. I desperately need inspiration for my wardrobe I have been stuck in the jeans and a t-shirt rut for WAYYY to long so I love hearing about the staple items that can be mixed and matched. I got slim pickins.
Also, we just applied for law scholl and are pinching our pennies, so I love the thrifting and killer deals.
Thanks for all you do, you are a gem!

Hi Sydney!
I’m Brenda, but I mostly go by Mamaholic on the interwebs. I am the mom of A (7 months today!) and wife to J. We live in Northern CA and my interests are sewing, photography, crafting and being a mom.
I’m not really into fashion but I *love* finding something comfortable, flattering AND stylish.
Also, I never had anyone to teach me about makeup, so I could use a “makeup for dummies” tutorial.
Amy says
Hiiiii Sydney!!! Love your stuff! 🙂 I am a happily married mom of 3, live in California, teacher 3rd grade, play with my scrapbooking supplies and try harder to be a better photographer. As I am getting older, I want to be fashionable! And I stink at it! So, I vote for fashion!! Inexpensive ways to “jazz” up my wardrobe…probably more like toss my wardrobe and start over! LOL! Thanks!!!! 🙂 Amy

I love blogging, anything chocolate or coconut. I have 6 kids all grown and on their own except our son Cody who has been 17 FOREVER…LOL. We have 3 grandchildren and counting. My husband Scott is the smart one and I am the sweet one. I love cooking and decorating my home. I’m much better at the cooking part though. I can taste the results and know that it is good. When decorating I am always second guessing what I just did and can never make up my mind if I like it or not! I love a little country and a little traditional mixed up together and can never seem to get the right balance! I live in Utah and manage a boutique at Gardner Village. I know we get a lot of visitors from Idaho…maybe even you.
Love all that you do so just keep it coming.
Have a wonderful weekend,

Hi, Sydney, I am the mother of 5 and the grandmother of 22. Don’t know if there are any other OLDERS out there, but would love fashion tips on how to look appropriately youthful, stylish, slim and gorgeous (well, maybe that’s asking too much!). I’ve been working on my personal history, viewing pics of my youth (sigh) and would love some “make me feel younger” ideas. You are adorable – love your spirit!

Hi Sydney! I’ve been married for almost 5 years, live in NJ, & have the most adorable & sassy almost-2-year-old you’ve ever met. I have a cooking/parenting/(sometimes)crafting blog where I share recipes & some of the fun things I get to do with my little girl.
I love your style & loved your “how to dress your husband” post, & would appreciate more like that… but for dressing myself! As a SAHM I often put myself last, & that totally includes shopping. I think it would be great to have a list of some basic things all of us should have in our closets (like you did for “how to dress your husband”), as well as how to accessorize (I always feel stupid in jewelry, but want to learn how to wear it!), would be SUPER helpful!

Hi Sydney,
First of all I’m so happy I found your blog – I am totally hooked, thanks to this blog, which I follow as well.
I am married to my college love, which we both graduated from BYUI. I miss the ol’ days of dating my hubby on that campus! We are going on 6 years of marriage in May. We have two children, a 4 yr. old & a 1 month old. I live in Washington, UT. I like to build furniture, make crafts, blog, clean, and play with my babes. I feel as though I’d benefit from your dating ideas. I am slacking in that area. But really anything you have to share challenges me and that is what I need to mix things up a bit.
I look forward to your posts!

I’m a SAHM to 2 boys (ages 3 and 10 months), and I have no clue how to dress myself. Seriously. I need help figuring out how to look nice when my job is to take care of these two precious human beings God gave us. (Sometimes I need help remembering not to wear sweats and slippers all.day.long.) I want to look cute for my hubby, and nice for myself. I love How To’s and beauty stuff, and I love them even better when they’re affordable/thrifted/easy.
You seriously rock, girlfriend! And your hubby was a darling model in the “how to dress your husband” post. Swell!

Hello there! Rebekah here, I am a mommy of soon to be two boys (Noah, 3 1/2 and due mid-April with Levi) and married to the love of my life going on 6 years. I love being crafty, scrapbooking, a little sewing here and there, baking, being outside if it is not cold (we live in Iowa, so it is cold), being a mommy and teaching children (BA in Elem. Ed.).
I suppose I would like to see Fashion the most but tutorials and the date nights too – okay I guess I would like to see it all (that probably doesn’t help!) Look forward to seeing/reading more about you and your ideas!

Hi Sydney! My name is Shannon, I’m a married, 45 year old mom of a 16 (going on 23) year old daughter. We have 2 dogs, 2 cats, and a crested gecko! I love to craft – whether it be sewing stuff, paper crafts, whatever — I love it!! I have too many in-progress projects to mention! Need time to get them all done. Doggie-booties and a cat bed were the last things done (just finished the cat bed yesterday!)… Too much fun!
I am right now on a mission to learn how to crochet! My mom tried many years ago to teach me, but my hands just didn’t want to do what they were supposed to! I’m hoping that now I can be a little more patient and get it right! Then I’ll move on to knitting!!! HA! I’m pretty ambitious with this kind of thing!
Tutorials — whatever you can give us, would be great! As a 45 year old working mom, I too, would appreciate some good fashion tips! I go to work every day in jeans – not always t-shirts, but there are those days, too! My daughter always wants to take me shopping, so she can “make me cute!” REALLY!?! So, I’m guessing fashion tutorials would be appropriate for me!!!
Thank you for all you do!

I even went to the thrift store the other day after reading your post about thriftin’ and scored a couple of shirts. Beauty and makeup tips would be great too, I am clueless when it comes to that stuff (yes…I called it stuff). Mascara is the extent of my makeup knowledge.
Oh and I am Chantill, married, two kids (boy 6 and girl 4), two cats and a dog. We live in Utah for now. And silver is my favorite color 😉 hehehe

I want to know 2 things: how do you get your hair styled in that wavy/beachy/sexy/perfectly tossed way? AND how do you get your funky, cool thrifty belt to tie that way?
LOVE all your fashion advice, your style, your hair (I just got bangs! and you inspired me to part my hair down the middle now!) and love your writing style.
You are fabulous!

Sydney!! Why are we not best buds? Stupid states apart and the whole not-really-knowing-you-thing preventing a ridiculously awesome friendship. It’s a shame, really.
Let’s see. The whole getting to you know you biz –
My name is Rachel.
Been married two years.
Originally from Georgia, now living in Utah.
Almost a college graduate (pat on the back for that one)
Pickles are my favorite midnight snack and I could drink nothing but orange juice and be one happy gal.
I love your fashion and how-to posts. ‘Cause I am seriously handicapped on a) how to dress myself and b) how-to anything (hair, makeup, yadda yadda). I need all the help I can get.
Love that you’re on the How Does She team! This whole site and all you ladies are just fantastic.

Hi Sydney….Well, I thank HowDoesShe for introducing you to us all. I love reading your blog ( in a nearly stalker-ish way), you crack me up and i love your fashion (does that even make sense…hmm). About me: SAHM of 2 of the most adorable kids, boy 4yrs. girl 19 mo.; married to a handsome car mechanic who runs his own biz(and looks rather tasty in his uniform even covered in car fluid junk); graduate of BYU-Provo 2001 (holy cammoly I’m old); and living in St. George, UT (aka, the desert) trying to renovate our old home (hi, can you say “I want to win the lottery to redo my home, but don’t gamble so I’ll just dream”).
As far as Fridays go, turtorials about fashion/beauty/etc. would be great for someone such as I who grew up with 6 brothers and never has found her place in the girly world (but would love to) Thanks for asking! It’s nice to get to know you. Suggestions on how to start a cool wardrobe, basics to acquire, etc. might be good too.

Hello!
I’m married with two sons {4 and 6}. I love strawberries {especially combined with alcohol}. And glad we scratched the color question…because I love too many. I make jewelry. I live in jeans or yoga pants…but am dying to add some dresses once the temp goes over 50 {brr…Michigan}.
I’m most interested in fashion & how tos.

Hey Sydney! My name is Alaina, I live in the Orem, UT area with my wonderful husband and beautiful baby girl, Caprice! I read your blog everyday, looking for inspiration for my own style. After having my baby I just resorted to what was “comfortable” and not what actually looked good. I’m 5’3, 110 lbs…so it’s not hard finding things that fit or look good, it’s putting different items together that complete an outfit – that’s my issue. But I do find inspiration and new idea from your outfits. And I have to say – I love all your shoes. Major shoe fetish. Anyways… I would like to see more tutorials! I think those are obviously very informative and helpful for people..and me! Thank you for your blog – it has helped me so much!

I would love some tips and ideas for pregnant mammas on how to dress and stay somewhat trendy for spring and summer! Thanks for seeking out ideas to write about! Super excited to see what you come up with in the coming months! 🙂

Hey Sydney! I’m pretty sure we live in the same town. 🙂 (Judging from the backgrounds in some of your pictures and that you’re in school in Idaho.) So that’s pretty cool! Anyway, I have 6 kids, 15, 12, almost 8, and triplets who are almost 6. So I’d love more fashion ideas, especially to flatter those of us with baby bellies (not baby sized, but because of babies.)

I would love some how to’s! (I need to figure how to make sure my red lipstick doesn’t get flaky throughout the day… Any ideas?) I watched the scarf and belt tutorial on your daybook and I have been tying my belt like that ever since!
Have a lovely day!

Hiya Syd! I am Laura, from DC and I am an avid reader of your blog. Like big time fan. I’m single (therefore no kids) and I’m a journalist with a passion for writing, fashion, a good book, Thai food and laughing with friends so hard that my tummy aches the next morning. That is me in a nutshell.
I really adore every look you post on your blog, so I would be most interested in seeing more of your fashion/styling tips, and also hearing any funny stories about you and husband. I love your blog voice.

I’m Ashley. I’ve been happily married for almost 2 years. No bambinos yet, but we’re trying. 🙂 We currently live in Washington state, but we’ll be moving to the SE in October.
I’d love to read posts on make-up. I guess I was too busy being a nerd that I never figured that stuff out. I can do mascara but that’s about it. But I want to know more/wear more especially after having my make-up done for my wedding – I’ve never felt so beautiful.
P.S. I’m usually not late to the party….

That’s pretty much it. Any free time I have I spent it with my family or shopping. Maybe I should start blogging my husband would love it rather then shopping. I’ll think about it. lol
I have one question who takes all the beautiful pictures? They come out perfect. P.S. Your son is soo cute. 🙂
