*Thanks to Tide for partnering with us on this post!
Hawaii is every bit the dreamy vacation that people say it is. As a first-time visit to Oahu, I was blown away with the incredibly changing terrain. The perimeter of the island is made up of pristine white sand beaches and turquoise waters which are a playground for surfers and tropical fish. Inland you’ll find lush greenery, jutting mountains, rain forests, and waterfalls with some of the greatest hikes and paths for the avid explorer.
When we heard about the Lanikai Pillbox Hike in Kailua, we knew we had to do it.
The Lanikai Pillbox Hike & What Saved our Muddy Day
If you’re on Oahu, I highly recommend doing the Lanikai Pillbox hike in Kailua. It’s an intermediate hike that has a very steep incline. The climb is an adventure and the view is unprecedented. You’ll see the most amazing scenery of Kailua, the massive jungle-covered mountains, and the southeast Oahu coastline. It was probably my favorite hike we did on Oahu.
By the time the five of us got to the top, we were winded but blown away by the view. The wind was really whipping that day, but every ounce of energy put into that climb was worth it.
Then Came the Rain (and Mud)
Just after we’d caught our breath, the rain started to pour. If you’ve been to Hawaii in January, you know this can happen at any time. And when the rain pours, it pours.
The sheer mountainside quickly turned to mud and by the time we scrambled down, we were all soaked and covered in mud. For most of us, those sweatshirts were the only ones we’d packed.
We all had a good laugh at our before and after photos of the Pillbox hike. Good thing there are plenty of Target stores on the island where we could go pick up some Tide to wash our clothes!
I like to pack a few Tide PODS with me on any vacation I go on because they always come in handy and they are super convenient to bring along.
Tide Saves the Day
Right now, Tide is offering a $3 Tide PODS coupon and a $3 Tide Detergent coupon, nationally, across ALL retailers, from February 3rd to February 9th. You can find them in stores and online. (Just create a login account to print at home.)
It’s a great time to stock up on Tide products, especially the Tide PODS, which are my favorite. I use them at home and on vacation. I’ve found that they’re the best for both stain and odor removal. Especially for those active clothes, like swimwear, workout gear, and clothes that kids get dirty.
So, if you’re headed to Oahu, I 100% recommend doing the Pillbox Hike in Kailua. Just make sure to bring your rain jacket and some Tide PODS just in case.
Aloha!
