I don’t know about you but I feel like my to do list grows longer everyday! I try to stay organized but when life gets extra busy I have been known to forget things. In order to minimize my forgetfulness, I wanted to make something where I could write a reminder and pin a note.
Isn’t it cute?! I have been dying to try chalkboard paint and this was the perfect opportunity.
Here is what you will need to make a super cute note board:
1. 12 in. circle plaque
2. Chalk board paint
3. 1 can of spay paint
4. 39 large clothespins
5. 38 small clothespins
6. Wood glue
7. Hot glue
7. Ribbon
8. Chalk
The first thing you will need to do is paint your plaque with the chalkboard paint. This was probably my favorite part of the project! I was so excited to write on it with chalk and I didn’t have to wait long at all. Okay, I might have pulled out the hair dryer at the end :).
Next you will need to paint the clothespins. I know what you’re thinking. 77 clothespins will take forever to paint and dry! What if I told you there is a nifty trick you can use?
You can clip those clothespins around a cardboard box and be done in no time!
I chose to paint my clothespins a robin’s egg blue. It is probably my favorite color right now. Plus it is the perfect bright color to catch my eye before I head out the door and forget something.
While you are waiting for them to dry you can use a compass or another circle to trace a guide line on your plaque. This will help you have a more even circle when gluing on the clothespins.
Now that your clothespins are all dry you can start gluing them on your plaque! Are you getting excited yet?
Make sure they are pointing outward so you can clip notes with them.
Almost done!
Now stick your bow on with hot glue and you are ready to remember everything! (Well, almost everything)
Ta da! The finished product complete with notes and chalk. Love it :).
Happy New Year and happy remembering!

Wow. Great idea. Not only cute but also practical 🙂
It’s nice you describe the step-by-step execution.

This is so cute! But could you do this with a dry erase board?
Carina says
Thank you Tess! You could totally use a dry erase board. You could even make it with sheet metal, then you could use dry erase and magnets! That’s why I love creating, there’s no right or wrong answer 🙂

This is awesome!! I love how easy this is to make, and how I can add a pop of ANY color to my room. Smart! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Bobbi!

Very cute idea! But I have a picky question: The list of materials says “4. 39 small clothespins” and “5. 38 small clothespins”. Should #4 be 39 LARGE clothespins? Also, do the clothespins go all the way around the plaque, under the bow? I am only counting 36 and 35 clothespins on the pic and it is hard to tell if the clothespins are under the bow. I think I know exactly where this can go in my house. Thank you for sharing!
P.S. Are circle plaques at Michael’s and Joann’s? That is throwing me a bit.
Carina says
Debbie you are so right! It should definitely be 39 large clothespins. I’m going to blame that mistake on “mommy brain” :). In the supply list I have given you the amount of clothespins to go all the way around the plaque. I decided mid-project to stop at the bow however, so you are correct again in counting 36 large and 35 small clothespins in the picture displayed. Also you can find the circle plaques at MIchael’s. I’m glad you enjoyed my post and I hope you love your clothespin and chalkboard note board as much as I love mine :).

Your idea is so clever, Carina! I look forward to more of them!

Very cool! Where did you find large and small clothespins, I always seem to see them in one size only?
Carina says
Thanks Natalya! Your local Michaels should carry both size clothespins. 🙂
