Have you ever sat there and thought, ‘I wish I had some birthday candles on me’? Okay, maybe I am weird,…but I have!!! I love the idea of whipping out a candle at a moments notice to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to the special Birthday girl/guy, (even if you didn’t know in advance that is was their birthday)! Doing the small little things on someone’s birthday is what really makes their day special. Be prepared for any birthday any time! This simple little project will take you 5 minutes max. Grab a small match box, cover it in some cute birthday paper with mod podge, distress the edges…Leave a few matches, add a few candles, and you are set! Whether its one of your girlfriends, your children, your children’s friends, co-workers, etc… this is bound to make someone’s day. A purse necessity if you ask me. 🙂Do you have any great ‘last minute’ birthday friendship ideas? We’d love to hear them!
Be prepared for a spontaneous Birthday Party!

Amazing idea!! I absolutely LOVE IT. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to celebrate my husband’s birthday because of a series of unfortunate events which you can read about on my blog. If I had had some candles in hand I would have made it a little more special. Thanks so much.

seriously, i dream of one day being that super mum/woman whose bag of curio’s is literally prepared for ANYTHING! I’m not even close but sweet posts like these give me hope! 😉
I do keep a pen and a stash of birthday cards/note cards in my car though… just in case!

I love this! I also love to have birthday magnets on hand and I also do clear acrylic frames that I decorate in a rather neutral tone with stickers, rub ons, etc. about celebrating you. I always keep these on hand, just in case. Also for kids homemade crayons are always a great idea to have on hand. Throw in a cute notepad and watercolors and you are good to go!

This is the cutest thing. For a small child, maybe put in a balloon and some confetti. Maybe even a small toy.
Oh..maybe you put a couple of crayons (the broken pieces) and a small pad of paper. That might keep a child occupied for a moment! 🙂

I WILL be doing this! I love the idea. In fact, I would love to make a couple of the larger match boxes – fill with candles and maybe a few $$$ Tree fun things. Just a little something that says I thought of you on your special day!

very handy idea. no one carries matches anymore! we had our daughters 3rd birthday party at our church, and forgot the matches to light the birthday candles! we had to look everywhere until we found some.
