If you’re a mom whose kids follow her around all day, asking for snacks and tugging on the back of your legs, then a regular girls night is not just nice, it’s essential. A working gal with her nose to the grind stone all week knows that a weekend with the girls is not just casual, it’s sanity-saving. If you know you know. And if you’re looking for fun girls night activities that will revive your spirit and go down in the history books, here are some of our favorites. (Speaking from experience of course.)
21 Girls Night Activities They’ll Never Forget
Paint and sip: Why is this such a fun girls night? Because busy women and moms rarely get a chance to unwind. Painting with a guide at the helm can be so soothing and enjoyable at the same time, especially when you have your favorite gal pals with you, sipping favorite drinks. The best is seeing the progress of everyone’s painting and how it turns out in the end.
Go to an escape room: Don’t knock an escape room until you’ve tried one. I know I did for a long time, until I actually went to one with my girlfriends for a girls night. We had a blast! Solving one epic riddle together was a challenge we all rose beautifully to. And it was probably the only time a bunch of moms will ever rob a bank. It’s fun to see how your friends take on different roles in situations like this. Teamwork at it’s finest.
Favorite things party: When my friends get together for lunch, we’re always talking about our favorite things so why not turn it into an event? If you’ve never been to a Favorite Things party, basically each attendee brings an item she’s been lovely lately (i.e. favorite candle, accessory, treat, etc.) and you take turns talking about your favorite thing and then sharing. If you have a small group, you can bring an item for each person, that way everyone goes home with 5-6 new favorite things. So fun!
Host a cookie swap: Here’s a fun girls night activity…plan a cookie swap where everyone brings a favorite cookie and recipe to share. The host provides paper plates and you go home with a plate of assorted cookies to enjoy. Here’s a recipe of one of our very favorite cookies!
Coconut Chocolate Chip Cookies:
Attend a charcuterie class: Charcuterie is a culinary art form and it’s so fun to learn, especially with your besties. Book a class or find a charcuterie guru to teach your group the tricks. Then enjoy the fruits of your labors.
Try a new restaurant a month: Start a lunch bunch group where you try a different spot each month. You’ll get a chance to catch up and experience new restaurants in your area.
Ice cream rolling: A friend of mine did this for a party once and everyone had so much fun, we’ve requested it again and again. You can get a rolled ice cream maker for a decent price and they’re great for parties or just to have for your family. You can learn how to make rolled ice cream here. The best part is playing around with all the topping possibilities.
Keep it Chill:
Sunset flower picking: Chances are you have a flower farm near you and this is such an enjoyable girls night activity. Try your hand at creating a beautiful bouquet and chat and laugh while you do.
Sushi night: Go out for sushi or learn how to make your own. It’s easier than you think. Some chefs will even teach you for a private sushi making class in your home.
Host a swap: Have outgrown kids items, home decor you’re swapping out, or handbags that could use a new owner? Host a girls night activity where you each bring a few of these gently used items to swap. Believe me, this is a huge help for moms with growing kids!
Classic flicks and treats: One time my girlfriends and I got chatting and someone referenced the movie Mean Girls. One of our friends admitted she’d never seen it. What?! The next girls night was planned right there–a few weeks later we got together and watched Mean Girls and everyone brought a snack to share.
Get Adventurous:
Learn TikTok dances: Alright ladies, are you feeling brave? Learn some of the latest TikTok dances for a girls night activity and if you’re EXTRA brave…take a video and post it!
Go to a concert: See what bands or artists are coming near you or even book a trip to see someone big. Buy matching t-shirts and get ready to go wild!
Glow yoga: Girls night activities don’t always have to be so hyped up. Get chill and relieve some much-need stress and tension with a night yoga class. A lot of studios have “glowga” where the lights go off and the glow sticks come out.
Go on a trip: Extend girls night into a legit trip. Book a vacation rental home or splurge on that hotel suite and stay up late, enjoy a kid-free pool day, and shop/eat to your heart’s content. I know of a group of 17 women who booked a house boat on Lake Coeur D’ Alene and they had an unforgettable time.
Hit up an amusement park: If you haven’t gone to an amusement park without your kids, you haven’t lived. Hit up an amusement park with your gal pals and watch the inner kid come screaming out.
Book a psychic: When it comes to creative girls night activities, booking a psychic or holistic energy reading is probably up there with things you’ve never done before.
Oldies but Goodies:
Show your sporty side: Get cheap tickets to a sporting event near you and cheer your heart out. Hockey, baseball, football, volleyball…support your local pro, semi-pro, or college team and have a blast letting loose. Maybe you’ll even catch a home run ball.
Kick back at a posh movie theatre: You know the ones…with magical reclining heated seats that make you feel like you’re in the most comfy Lazy Boy. It doesn’t even matter which movie, it’s all about the relaxation. And the popcorn.
Book an airbnb close by: You don’t need to travel far to have an unforgettable girls night. Book an airbnb right in your home town. This way no one needs to stress about cleaning up to host or cleaning up after. It’s stress-free and all you need to focus on is the fun. Bring games, play good old fashioned truth or dare, or “never have I ever.” (That game is sure to get some good convo going!)
Ladies only pool/hot tub party: Put the kids to bed early and host a ladies-only pool party. Bring out the drinks and popsicles! I don’t know how many times I’ve wished I could just float in a pool without worrying about my kids or without getting splashed by cannon balls.
This should give you plenty of girls night acuities to get started. So gather the ladies and get something on the calendar!
