Have an old wool sweater hanging around that you don’t wear anymore? You are in luck! I found so many great ideas on how to use them.
I didn’t have any so I went thrifting and got a couple (okay more than a couple) to play with. I made a few purses, this owl and pumpkin, and I plan on making stockings and few other things with the rest. Even my 6 year old boy got into the fun – he made the little pumpkin in the front.
First you have to felt the wool, or basically wash it in hot water so that it shrinks. This makes it nice and sturdy so you can work with it. Here is a tutorial on how to felt it.
Here is where I got my inspiration:
Darcy from IttyBitty Blog (scroll down to 5th picture) made this cute bird bag. She got her tutorial here from Betz White.
A messenger bag with a tutorial here from Craft Nectar.
A cozy slipper from CraftStylish
A festive Christmas wreath ornament. I think my kids could even put these together! Thanks Alpha Mom for the great idea and tutorial!
Felt or felted wool garland. Find tutorial here by designer Anna Maria Horner.
Craft Stylish again with this plastic bag holder. I made one to hang in my pantry for extra bag storage. I thought it would be a good idea to hang one on the door leading to your outside garbage so that bags are easily accessable for containing stinky diapers.
A funky cat by Green Kitchen. My daughter is obsessed with cats right now, so this one caught my attention. I think I would have to make hers pink and purple, though.
If this doesn’t keep you busy, check out this list from ecosalon for more ideas! Let us know what you come up with!

Hi-
I really do love the ideas you post on your site.
I liked the recycled sweater owl, but couldn’t find any instructions on it. Did I miss something? or is it a project you are selling?
Thanks for your help,
Susan Warnick

Scrolling through your site, I saw the cutest black and white striped cat. It looked like it was made from a sock. Is that a pattern or something you are selling? I got the giggles when I saw that face…..made my day.
