For me, fall in the country has a certain smell. I think it goes back to my childhood days of exploring the canal banks on my grandparent’s sprawling property in rural Idaho. During the summer, the canal was brimming with irrigation water and we’d dip our legs in, kicking up cool splashes. But come fall, the canal dried up and all that was left of it’s skeletal channel were moss-covered rocks and fallen branches. By October, the moss would dry up and leaves from the falling trees would sprinkle the canal banks creating the most lovely earthy smell. For me, that is what fall smells like and every once in a while, when I drive by a pasture with the window rolled down, or I take a brisk morning walk, I catch that scent on the breeze and it takes me right back.
From exploring empty canal banks, to traipsing through crunchy leaves, and climbing trees…fall was made for exploring.
I suppose I’m still an explorer at heart. To be completely truthful, I’d trade in high heels for a good pair of boots any day. I prefer footwear in which I can be active. That’s why I’ve grown to love Hotter Shoes.

The Clarence Boot
These Clarence boots in Sand spoke to me for their functionality and fashion. Now these are boots I can wear to hike my favorite foothills trails and then meet up with friends for brunch. These are boots you want to wear with your favorite jeans and a flannel and go pumpkin picking.
They come in four colors, including Sand, Black, Mahogany, and a super cool Khaki.
I like that they have side zippers that makes slipping them on and off very simple. The soles are nice and sturdy, giving you plenty of support and I think my favorite detail is the tuft of sherpa lining peeking out of the tongue.
Blenheim II Boots
It’s your favorite cozy sweater detail combined with a great boot. Take a walk down leafy streets or snow-dusted sidewalks in these boot that are built to go the distance.
Kew Boots
A gorgeous leather boot that is chic and high class. These Kew boots are versatile enough to go to work, a formal event, or an afternoon out with friends.
Bella Boots
A full-length leather riding boot, the Bella Boots are luxe and lovely. For the refined biker babe look including a beautiful leather side strap and side zip, this is a perfect boot to have in your closet.
Flexor Boots
Va-va-va-voom! If a boot could turn every eye in the room, this is it. Authentic leather, snakeskin design, and a block heel that packs an attitude, this just may be one of the most gorgeous boots I’ve ever laid eyes on and at 40% off + free shipping, that is a steal for this incredible quality.
