*This post is sponsored by BarkBox, but all opinions are my own. BarkBox works to spread puppy happiness all around the world!
Some of my earliest memories include my childhood dog. She was, literally, part of our family. Almost every activity we did together included that sweet pup – Tess was her name, and she was as loyal as they come. Dogs as known as a man’s/woman’s best friend, and it’s true. A dog will always be loyal. Always be excited to see you when you walk through the door. Never let you down. It’s easy to see why so many of us hold these little (or big) furry creatures close to our heart and why we want to invite them into our homes and spoil them rotten. Well, I’ve found something every devoted dog owner should try.
Are you a fur mama?
If so, you probably understand the obsession.
I mean, look at this face:
Meet Aspen.
He’s a Pomeranian and a sweet little pup who loves to cuddle and take walks. He’s also an anxious little guy and doesn’t always love new things. He’s part of the family.
One of the best ways to spoil your loyal BFF and create a bonding experience is with BarkBox. When I heard about this company I thought it was genius. Not only will it create opportunities for VERY happy pets, but it also provides opportunities to play and bond with your fur baby. I was excited to see Aspen’s reaction to this box of puppy happiness.
When we opened this box of treats and toys, I first noticed the darling theme of New York City. Now, I might not be a city girl anymore, but I sure have a special place in my heart for that concrete jungle. Dreams are made there, people, and no doubt Aspen’s dreams came true when we opened this box!
Look what was inside.
I’ll break down what was included in this NYC themed box in a second, but first I want to tell you a little about BarkBox and how it works.
BarkBox is a monthly subscription box personalized to your size of pet – think small dog (<20lbs), medium dog (20-50 lbs) or large dog (50+ lbs). Your teeny tiny Pomeranian won’t get a toy meant for a St. Bernard. Each box contains 2 bags of treats, 1 chew, and 2 original toys ONLY available through BarkBox (or on Barkshop.com). You won’t find these items anywhere else! They’re all natural and made in the US and/or Canada. (In case you have a patriotic dog too!)
I honestly love how personalized they make these boxes. Have a heavy chewer? You know the type. The dog you have to hide all your shoes from? There’s totally a BarkBox heavy chewer option. If you specify this option, you will get less plush toys included in your box and more chewy toys. Tough ones. For the roughest of dogs. Cool, right? Doggie service at it’s finest.
And speaking of service, BarkBox customer service is killer. Pup not happy? You just give them a call or email, and they’ll make it right. Is there anything better than amazing customer service? Major “paw”ps for that. (Get it? Pawps? )
Let’s get back to the reaction in our house.
At first, he wasn’t quite sure WHAT to think. Apparently, he’s just not used to getting things in the mail?
Then, after a few sniffs, it was like Christmas day.
You can totally tell this dog has been around me too much, because the first thing he did was go STRAIGHT for the treats. With a little help opening the package from mom, he went to TOWN on the yummy jerky chews. I guess I should specify, I didn’t personally sample, but he enjoyed them thoroughly and acted like they were a good chew.
I have to admit, I was really impressed with the quality. Like any product, there can be “cheap” stuff out there – this includes dog toys. Everything in this box of original toys was made with thought and care. You can tell the quality just by holding it in your hand. The construction was made to stand the test of time and canines. Plus, I am “pawsitively” obsessed with the different themes of Bark Boxes. YOU GUYS, these boxes are creative genius.
Chinatown anyone? I mean, how cute are these little guys? Almost (but not quite) as cute as the dogs whose mouths they will soon enter.
You also have the option to “upgrade” your box for an additional $9 to include an extra premium toy. So if you REALLY can’t say no, you spoil that dog rotten! He deserves it!
See it here next to his foot? (It’s bluish green.)
We might have to go on a long walk after all this goodness!
BarkBox is really fun for dog AND owner. I’ve done subscription type boxes for myself and my human babies, but now I’m loving the idea of doing it for my fur baby! BarkBox is billed monthly but you can save up to 5% if you pay upfront for your 6 or 12 month plan. Your first box arrives within a week, after the first box all subsequent boxes ship of the 15th of each month. This gives us something to look forward to monthly!
I also love the convenience of the box. Lots to keep my dog happy and busy with and no trips to the pet supply store for me! All you need in one box, delivered to your door.
What more can you ask for?
Best part?
BarkBox is offering all HowDoesShe reader’s their first box for only $5!!
Seriously.
Sign up for either a 6 or 12 month subscription (the BEST value), and get that first box for only $5!
I spend that on gas station goodies in one stop!
You can check it out more HERE.
Aspen and I think you should totally try this for your dog!
After all, he’s one of the family right?
Aspen, do you agree?
He agrees. He told me. The snuggles prove it!

Hi, just wondering if you had any advice on potty training our 9 month old Pomeranian. He poops outside but pees inside all the time, needless to say it is driving our family of 7 crazy. We never had this problem with our 8 year old shih tzu. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
