The trees are budding and the flowers blooming. Spring is officially here. So, what a perfect time to FRESHEN up your look for this new season! Time for RENEWAL ladies! Lucky for us, our very own Missy has graciously allowed us to experiment and transform her into a look ready for spring.
Here to help is my lovely friend Camilla Orosco, expert in hair and makeup design. She started by giving Missy a fresh new haircut and a blend of rich color and highlights to add dimension and life to her hair.
Then came the eyebrows. Shaping eyebrows is a MUST and can be the most dramatic change to someone’s look. I highly recommend this.
Then for the makeup. Camilla likes to add foundation first to create her canvas.
TIP: BLEND People! And choose the right color for you!! If you are unsure of your color, then test it on your jawline first to see if it blends nicely with your skin.
Next, she added concealer under the eyes (especially close to the inside) and don’t forget those sunspots and blemishes – they need concealer love too. Bye bye uneven skin tone! Concealer is magic to me and probably one of my favorite things in my makeup bag!
She then lightly adds mineral powder to blend and set along with a nice pink blush on the apples of her cheeks.
Now for the eyes.
TIP: Use an angled brush instead of an eyebrow pencil. And use a matte and ash tone for your eyebrows. People tend to go a bit too warm.
TIP: When applying your liner use a sponge to catch any loose powder from falling under your eyes. Love that idea- I am always getting dark specks under my eyes when applying eye makeup!
TIP: To apply a liner without using a pencil or liquid liner just dab the angled brush into a black or dark brown eye shadow and line your lash line with the brush.
Next, Camilla chose a peachy lip color for spring.
TIP: Use concealer on your lips before applying lipstick to create a base and make your lipstick last longer. Also, start in the center of the lip and work your way out- it creates more of a natural look.
Then add the eyeshadow.
TIP: Choose a complementary color to your eye color.
Missy has beautiful greenish grayish blue eyes – they can’t decide what they want to be – and they are amazing. So, Camilla chose to use a rust color as one of her colors to bring out that green tone in her eyes. We gave her eyelash extensions (read here) so no mascara needed.
Now for styling of the hair. We wanted to show the color in her hair so we chose to keep her hair straight.
TIP: Use a hot iron at the highest temperature, but don’t forget some heat protecting product on your hair to keep it from damage.
TIP: Use product such as gloss drops at the ends to keep frizz at bay and create shine.
And just like that….Missy is now ready for spring. Doesn’t she look gorgeous?
I also had to point out how cute her necklace from Anthropology is.
And my favorite part of her outfit…HER SHOES!! And you won’t believe how much she paid for them? Come on – take a guess.
$4.50!! On clearance at Target!! Nothing gets better than that!
Thanks Missy for being our guinea pig and such a great sport. You look beautiful!

Thank you for your kind comment. I got my top from Anthropologie a couple years ago – I always seem to find something cute there. That store is trouble! 🙂
