If you’re a girlie girl like me, you probably have a ton of earrings. My current system of digging through a box that contained all my earrings, entwined together just wasn’t cutting it anymore. Plus, I found myself not wearing earrings nearly as much because I couldn’t see what I owned and my ears went naked for months!
I decided to change all that by making myself a earring holder. I didn’t have a lot of time and had a couple rowdy kids so I knew it needed to be a quick, easy project that wouldn’t require a ton of time or a trip to the store for supplies. I had this totally awesome mustard yellow chevron frame in my basement. I brought it upstairs and it matched my dresser PERFECTLY. It was like they were made for each other! I knew I could use the frame to make a quick and easy earring holder.
Here’s the supplies you will need:
– frame (the one I used has an 18X26 opening)
-batting
-burlap fabric
-cardboard cut the size of your frame opening
-duct tape
Lay out your burlap fabric and place your cardboard on top to get an idea of how big to cut your burlap fabric.
You want to cut it large enough for plenty of room to work with. I suggest cutting your fabric an extra 5-6″ inches on each side.
It obviously doesn’t have to be a perfect cut. It’s hard to cut burlap straight! Or maybe it’s the fact that I had 2 toddlers hanging off my neck when I cut it. 😉
Flip your frame upside down and place your burlap fabric on top.
Place your batting on top of your burlap fabric. There’s no exact amount, just so there’s enough fluff to make your holder puff out.
Place your cardboard on top of the batting. (Something about this image makes me want a s’more! Do you see it?!)
Break out the duct tape and wrap your fabric around to the back of the cardboard and tape the first side down.
Tape so you have 3 sides taped and one open side. You will have to tug and tape at the same time to get it tight.
Use the open side to adjust your batting. I made sure to push the batting to the corners.
Now, get crazy with your duct tape. It’s possible that I overdid it with the duct tape but I’m positive it’s not going anywhere. 😉
Now put your cardboard creation inside your frame. You can even use the duct tape to tape this into the frame on the back of your frame.
Ta-da! You now have a fabulous earring holder!
Fill it with your earrings and admire. I find myself wearing earrings everyday now that they are neatly displayed. No more naked ears for me!

Me too! I don’t have too many earrings so I think a smaller one be perfect for me…fun to have them out on display. And duct tape…I can handle that!..ooh I should have my daughter make one for her grandma for mother’s day!

I love this idea. But how do you attach post back earrings?
Kerri King says
I have been able to stick my post back earrings (with the back attached) into the burlap without any trouble. 🙂
