I’m sure glad it’s Friday, so I can finally share this post about men’s fashion with you! This last week I was in Las Vegas for the “Magic Trade Show.” The trade show is all about up and coming fashion trends. It was very obvious what style is most popular among men right now. If any of you are like me, I need major help in this area.. my husband has NEVER kept clothing I have bought for him.
I’ve learned to save the receipt.
I picked three different guys who were sporting a similar/popluar look but, I want to show what sets them apart from each other.
Note: All three of these looks had three things in common. Layering, boots, and collars.
To dress your man for a casual setting, pick out a simple t-shirt and jeans. Layer it with a plaid or a plain button up shirt. Bold primary colors look great! Rolling up the sleeves gives it a laid back look.
For an edgy look, use solids and neutral colors. Pants and jackets with zippers add a nice effect. Find an undershirt with a few buttons by the neck and leave them open.
And lastly, for a dressy look, shades such as grey, black and white are key. Layer with a sweater or a vest. A plaid or solid button up shirt underneath the sweater adds a sophisticated look.
Just like women, men look great in color!
You can find all of these styles at great prices from Forever21, T.J Maxx, Ross, Target, ect.
If there was only one piece of advice I could share with you, it would be: Get him some boots! I couldn’t tell you how many men were wearing boots. Okay I could because every man was wearing work boots or mens cowboy boots.
What do you think of this fashion trend?

You know I think boots are timeless. In our over 22 years together, boots have always been the backbone of my husband’s wardrobe…. whether it be every day chukkas, hiking boots, or even the occasional pair of cowboy boots. (in fact he has maintained all three in his wardrobe plus his work boots… he is in the military.)
The jeans, t-shirt, and open button down even work for “older” guys too! Once again a timeless classic!

I love a man in boots!
The Real Person!
I am always looking for new ideas on what to suggest to my husband. These looks are great! I wonder if I could get him to wear boots – I’ll have to work on that one.

My problem is with my husband, is he is too simple meaning he is boring. He prefer jean & simple shirt. The only way he gonna get into fashion if I go & buy it… I prefer edgy outfits… just the pant will not be inside of the boots. He think that is not how real men dressed… he’s hard. But atleast he get all dress-up when we goes out,but on the regular days he’s back being simple & boring. UGH!

I’ve tried getting my husband a few things I would like to see him wear.. but as I mentioned.. they just get returned. haha. But, that doesn’t mean I don’t like what he wears! And, simple doesn’t mean boring. If it’s what he’s comfortable in, that’s what counts!

My Hubz has been wearing boots for the duration of our 12 year marriage. It’s very sexy! And…probably the only part of his wardrobe that he chose himself. He’s not a fan of [what he considers to be] fussing over clothes and just wears whatever I like on him. I would hate to see him in red pants, though. Not liking that look in the example up there. No matter, he wouldn’t anyway, even if I asked! He does have his limits, haha.

It sounds like the colored pants aren’t working for our men. These were a popular look at the show, but maybe it’s for extreme fashion areas such as New York, L.A., and such. The most color my husband would wear for his pants is brown, so I can’t try to convert anyone else 🙂

The boots are cool. Flannels are cool. But my hubby says he wouldn’t be caught dead wearing a scarf or a purse.. I think it’s the punk rocker in him. He’s still convinced that tight pants are uncomfortable to most men, and he for sure would never wear fur on his jacket no matter how trendy the styles are. I like my man in cargo pants, faded jeans, t-shirts with cool logos, and the four pocket Guayabera shirts, or Cramar shirts. He likes his canvas shoes like circa footwear or converse. He does have a nice pair of hush puppies in case he has to dress up, but the only time he wears boots is for work and rainy days.

I tried buying my husband a scarf, and I wear it more then him. Actually, I don’t think he’s ever worn it. I do like a man in a scarf.. kind of like the euro look. Every person has their personal style that they’re comfortable in and that’s the way it should be 🙂 You’re husband sounds like he knows whats going on.

I’m looking at this style and realizing that it’s exactly what I’m wearing. Oh the shame. I need to start dressing more feminine!
darlene says
No, you are feminine! This look is very unisex. But of course, the fit would be different. Take a look at Jenifer Aniston or Cameron Diaz on a casual day and they would be sporting a similar, comfy look.

Love those looks! and I especially LOVE when my husband wears clothes that are fashionable… so attractive to me! Great post!

I like the middle look best. But are the clothes on the right on female mannequins? (not the middle one) They look feminine? It could be the posturing? It makes it look like girl clothes to me. I don’t like the scarf or the red pants, too girly as well.
My men, my husband & 19 yr old son, both choose their own clothes. When I shop for them I buy things I know THEY like. All of these examples look messier to me than they normally dress for away from home.
darlene says
Male mannequins. Colored pants are in, for males and females. These pictures were taken at a fashion trade show where the top fashionistas from around the world attend. These pictures were just the overall obvious look that the majority of the male attendees were wearing. It’s not for everyone though.

Boots look silly in Florida, where I live, and where flip-flops or slides are MUCH more sexy. I prefer my guy in a tux with his gorgeous Bally tuxedo shoes if he isn’t wearing casual attire. I don’t care for the lumberjack look at all.
arlene says
Hi Barbara! I would have to agree with you! A man would be sweating bullets if he wore this in Florida! Definitely stick to the shorts and flip flops. a man in a tuxedo doesnt get any sexier, wish my hubby had more reasons to wear one 🙂
Barbara says
Oh, and as for the clothes – you’ve got to be kidding! They’re WAY too feminine for my Hubs or sons. You’d have them all rolling on the floor laughing!

Love it – thanks for the ideas. My husband likes boots but we spend more money on scrubs these days than any other type of clothing as he is a new nurse. But we’re going for good, stylish scrubs that will last him and make him feel like he’s wearing more than tailored hospital gowns – like a lot of men’s scrubs feel. I digress – love the layered look. Nice dimension.

I wouldn’t want to find my husband wearing any of these styles. Even the casual is borderline “model look” with the tight jeans, which these days is sissy and not appealing to the woman who wants her man to remain a masculine member of the family. That is my opinion of course. I don’t want him to look like I dressed him.
