These are so great for cold toes after sledding or just being out in the cold. You just pop them in the mirco for a couple minutes, put on your cold toes or hands, AAHH instant warmth. They are also great for sore muscles.
tag idea: Stay warm and toasty this Holiday Season, Merry Christmas!
To make: You just sew a pouch, fill with wheat or rice, sew the pouch closed – DONE! So Easy! I used a washcloth for my material and added a ribbon embelishment, but you could use any fabric. (Be sure not to use ribbon with wire in it – for obvious reasons)

If you are finding the wheat getting burned, or smelling badley, its ussually caused by moisture and heating it too long. I use corn that I get from the local feed store to put in mine, then you don’t have to worry about the moldy wheat! Corn also seems to hold the temperature longer <3

hi, i want to know how long do you warm it up in the microwave. thank you.
Tamera says
It takes approx a minute in the microwave to warm them up. I usually put them in for 30 seconds, shake them up, and then pop them back in for another 30 seconds. You can then judge the appropriate temperature:)

I’ve made them with corn, and it works great, too! I also stick them in the freezer in a ziplock bag (these things warm our tootsies… and yes, probably bum cheeks :/….) for when they’re running fevers as a cold-pac. Puts my fevered little guy OUT and lets him get some rest! 🙂

HOT PACKS FOR EAR INFECTIONS: Not a good idea!! If they have an inner ear infection. The heat draws the infection but it has no where to go. It can make the ear drum rupture! I learned this the hard way.

Socks work great for these also! I have used the colorful, fluffy socks and they are great!

This is a GREAT idea!

My mom would make these by filling a tube sock with rice (we noticed wheat smelled bad if accidently nuked too long) and then tying a knot in the top. Thus they became known as “hot socks.” I love the idea of adding essential oils!

I do this for my kids also. We love the rice packs!

Love the idea of making this with a washcloth! Would hold up well.
I like to put one by my feet in bed in the Winter. I checked out the link you posted. The poem really makes the gift!
