Your kids are adorable.
They say the most hilarious things, they make you laugh, they’re ridiculously cute, and it’s so fun to hear them put things into their own words or watch them perform something they’re proud of!
You need those things on video!
Years from now you’ll be so glad you captured the funny little things they’re doing now!
Here’s a fun way to spend some time outside when the weather is nice while capturing the cute things your kids are doing lately, on video!
______________________________________________
Start by making a list of some of the things you want to capture on video:
Next, make a treasure map of different places around your neighborhood that you can walk to.
(You need as many places as you have things for them to do).
You can fancy it up by burning the edges as shown below, or just make it really simple.
The idea is to follow the map to each of the locations, and at each one your kids have to “perform” while you record them on video… before they can move on to the next location!
First stop: The Park
Performance: Superman on the Swing!
Do a new performance at each stop along the way. I suggest making the mailbox the 2nd-to-last stop with the last stop a mystery. The clue to the last stop will be found in the mailbox and the final destination can be anywhere you want! Have something fun waiting for them at the end, to be their “treasure” (it could be a treat, a picnic, a fun activity… the sky’s the limit!)
What would the treasure be at the end of your hunt?
I’d love to hear some of your fun ideas!

How sweet!!! I love the idea and making it a special little date with one of the parents. The prize at the end would always be a trip to the ice cream store in our family. 😉 Thanks for the adorable idea.

Love this idea! It accomplishes two BIG purposes – the kids have a fun adventure (I love the treasure map!) and you get down their adorableness for future generations!

Heather – you never cease to amaze me with your creativeness! I LOVE this idea … can’t wait to do it with the kids. Treasure maps, performing for the camera, mom’s undivided attention…this is a SURE hit!

This is so cute! I think I need to do this with my 4 year old after school starts and while waiting for his preschool to start.

This is a fantastic idea! I wish I had a good suggestion for the final destination “treat”. Maybe the nature park so we could feed the ducks or one of the local frozen yogurt places. But whatever the final destination is, this would still be a great idea! Thanks so much for sharing!

You’re so welcome! 🙂 Those are great destination ideas, too! 🙂
