*This post is NOT a sponsored post and something I truly feel passionately about. IntelliBED is a game changer folks. This post does contain affiliate links.

Is sleep important to you? It most definitely is to me. Do you know what you are sleeping on?

After sleeping on a subpar mattress for the past decade, I recently decided to make an upgrade. Why? My old queen mattress was very basic, and my twenty-something-year-old body didn’t mind sleeping on it. Ten years later my thirty something body started telling me something was very wrong with my mattress. Both my husband and I were waking up sore and not well-rested. We knew we wanted to upgrade for our health’s sake.

After massive amounts of research, (we did NOT want to get the wrong mattress), we decided to try an intelliBED Mattress because of the amazing reviews and the fact that I desperately wanted a non toxic mattress. With a 60-day trail and no-risk return policy, we decided, “Why not?”

non toxic mattress

Let’s not beat around the bush. Was an intelliBED mattress worth the investment? In all honesty, it is quite possibly be the best decision I’ve made in a decade. I don’t mind spending more for a top-quality mattress that will protect and serve my back for years to come.intelliBED king mattress
So what’s all the hype about intelliBED mattresses better than the rest?

Why intelliBED

I’ve been guilty of consumer ignorance before, and I’m here to make sure you know the facts about foam mattresses. I’m sure you’ve heard of the growing trend of buying a “bed in a box.” The concept seems fun; an inexpensive foam mattress delivered in a small box which then expands and pops into place. It’s foam magic! But the keyword there is FOAM.

Simply put, these “bed in a box” mattresses are made out of foam that breaks down quickly, are full of toxins, can’t give you aggressive alignment for your back, and don’t do anything to take pressure off your body. As tempting as this trend is, after doing a little research on them, it was an easy decision to pass on the bed-in-a-box and find a non-toxic mattress. Your mattress probably isn’t as safe as you think.

The technology-based intelliBED made much more sense for the restorative sleep my husband and I needed.gel matrix
intellibed mattress

An easy decision:

  1. With the advanced technology of Gel Matrix, an intelliBED mattress is both firm and soft. It provides both the comfort and support needed. The best of both worlds is now possible.
  2. An intelliBED mattress is a non-toxic mattress (but not an “organic mattress” that would break down easily). I wanted a healthier mattress and this one knocked it out of the park.
  3. The 60-day in-home trial period made it low-risk. I wanted to make absolutely sure that intelliBED was a good fit for both my husband and me.
  4. intelliBEDs are backed with a 30-year warranty.

I can honestly say I have never slept on anything as comfortable as an intelliBED.  At first I was a little overwhelmed on which mattress to get. Rest assured, they have an amazing Q&A chat feature or you can call in and ask questions about your specific sleep issues and they will recommend the mattress that would best suit you. If you don’t like your mattress within your 60-day trial period, you send it back. (It was nice to have this option, even though we didn’t use it. Now you couldn’t make me send this mattress back without a fist fight!)

I was expecting for my body to adjust during the normal 30-day acclimation period, but I honestly noticed a difference after the first night’s sleep.

It’s true that there’s just something about Mom and Dad’s bed that makes it the best spot in the house.  Knowing that our intelliBED is a non-toxic mattress, gives me peace of mind as my little ones pile in for their snuggles.

I highly encourage you to take a second look at whatever you are currently sleeping on. From the bottom of my heart, I believe an intelliBED mattress is an investment worth making for your health.

Details on ordering your own intelliBED

The thought of ordering such a large, important, and expensive item without even trying it out first is a scary thought. But with intelliBED, they take all the risk and worry out of the process and leave it up to you. With financing options and a 60-day trial period, the comfort and safety of an intelliBED mattress can fit any budget.

Parenting is tough. Can I get an amen? I’ve tried just about every parenting technique, attended over a dozen parenting classes & courses, bounced ideas off of every parent & professional I’ve ever met, & read almost every parenting book, magazine, journal, & blog out there. And in the end, I’ve concluded that there is no perfect way to be a parent. But there are 12 simple skills that work together to make an all-star parent. (Let me be clear here, I’m not claiming to be an all-star parent, far from, but these are the skills I constantly strive to master.) I’ve compiled these skills in one place to create this ultimate 12 week parenting challenge. 12 weeks? I know, that sounds like a lot. But it’s doable & totally worth it. So if you want to be the best parent you can be give this parenting challenge a try.

If you want to be a better parent then it will take change. Change comes only through consistent effort. And that is why this parenting challenge will focus on one specific & focused parenting skill each week. You will have a whole week to master your new skill before trying to take on the next. After practicing a new skill for seven full days it will become more natural. It will become a habit. Then you will continue applying your new habit throughout the following weeks as you continue to challenge yourself with other parenting skills to improve on.

Parenting Challenge

Week 1: Smile more

A simple smile can transform even the darkest of days. Try to smile at your child every chance you get & let your smile brighten his day.

Week 2: Speak softly

This is your time to cut back on any yelling or nix it all together. Focus on using a calm, quiet voice to get the attention of your children.

Week 3: Be present

Give your child your full attention when watching or talking with her. Put down your phone, pause the Bachelor, or turn the stove top down to low if you have to. Obviously, this isn’t something you can do every time your child shouts “Mom,” but you should make it a goal to give your child your undivided attention whenever possible & especially when you can see it is important.

Week 4: Give Praise

It’s easy to be critical but it’s critical to be complimentary. Say nice things to your kids & about your kids. Just make sure your praise is honest & true. Keep your criticisms to a minimum.

Week 5: Be there

Try you best to be with your child during the most critical moments of each day. Namely, when they wake up, as they are leaving for school, when they return from school, & when they go to bed. There are so many moments during the day that you will inevitably miss, but do your best to be there whenever they transition from one place or state to the next.

Week 6: Listen

Ask your child for his opinion on things. Especially, issues that regard him. When it comes to punishments, rewards, meals, schedules, extra curriculars, after school activities, etc., ask what your child what he thinks and really consider his opinion. And include his thoughts in your decision making process. Don’t forget that he is an active member in your family & the main person is his life.

Week 7: Get all touchy feely

Give more hugs, kisses, shoulder rubs, tickles, pats on the back, & love taps than normal.

Week 8: Play

Carve some time, even if it’s only a few minutes a day, to have some devoted fun-filled quality time with your child. Let her pick the activity or topic & just be there, in the moment, wrapped up in fun with her.

Week 9: Read

Take time to read to your child. It doesn’t matter if they are 15 days or 15 years old, read to him. Try to let your child pick the book or the subject but also use this opportunity to teach valuable life lessons through novels or share your own cherished reads.

Week 10: Speak Kindly

As parents, it is sometimes easy to complain about our children & their errors. But how you say quickly becomes how you feel. If you let yourself get wrapped up in negativity you will feel negatively towards your children. Rather, speak kind words about him. Focus on the positive & you will feel positive, which will impact how he feels, & how you feel about each other.

Week 11: Eat Together

Life is busy & parents have so many never-ending responsibilities. It can be so hard to set aside time to be together as a family but it is all so crucial. Mealtime can be rushed but for the sake of your physical & familial health everyone benefits from if you slow down & take time to enjoy your meal & a little conversation if just for a few minutes. Try to find at least one meal a day when you can all be together.

Week 12: Love

The most important duty you have as a parent is to love your child. You are going to mess up, so many times & in so many ways. But do your very best to make your child feel loved through the ups & the downs. That’s what really matters. And in the end, that’s what your child really needs.

Your journey to parenting perfection isn’t over after you complete this 12-week parenting challenge. Rather, you should continue applying these new skills daily. If you notice one skill starting to slip, (truthfully, it is bound to happen so don’t you worry when it does) just put a little more effort into it for a week or two. I really hope this parenting challenge is a success for you! Do you have any other parenting skills you can recommend? Share them in the comments!

You probably think it’s too late for a swimsuit challenge.

Summer is ALREADY HERE! But this isn’t that kind of challenge. If you’re looking for a post about instant abs or how to magic away half of your person in the next two weeks, this is not the place for you.

This summer I challenge you to love yourself in your swimsuit. I challenge you to shut up about it if you don’t and fake it until you make it.

Seven years ago, I was at my heaviest weight.

I was a year post-baby and gaining daily, all the while calculating how many weeks until our family reunion at the beach.

“So, we have 8 weeks left. If I lose two pounds per week, I can be down 16 pounds. I’ll round that up to 20.”

“Okay. I only have 6 weeks left. And I’m up a pound. I’ll get serious this week and lose three pounds per week until the trip. That will get me down 20 pounds before 4th of July.”

This escalated and each week I’d start a diet and each week I’d fall short of my goal. Eventually, I owned the fact that I would never get to my ideal weight before we traveled to the Jersey Shore to spend a week with my cousins.

My cousins work hard to look good. Perfect bodies, perfectly tanned, perfectly preserved. And comparing is super fun so all I could think about was the contrast. Me = puffy and squishy. Them = underemployed swimsuit models.

I pictured how it would go down.

Them – “Hey Katie! Good to see you.”

Me – “I’m fat. Really fat right now. And I feel badly about my body. I’m sorry about that.”

Now I wouldn’t use those words, exactly. But I’d make little digs about my body. I’d call attention to it, all the while trying to hide it behind baggy clothes and big swimsuit cover-ups.

All my life I’ve had this way of calling attention to the things I’m most insecure about. It’s like if I make it clear that I’m aware of the problem, it lessens the embarrassment. At least I’m not fat AND oblivious.

There are a few problems with this:

1. It makes people uncomfortable. What are they supposed to say when I make fat jokes about myself? Should they agree? Probably not. Should they spend their life telling me I’m not fat and I look great or, worse yet, putting themselves down to make me feel better? There’s no win here.

2. It reinforces my own self-perception of being “less-than” because of my weight.

3. My children are listening. What does it tell my sweet kids about physical beauty if I place so much emphasis on the ideal we see in the media and all the ways I don’t measure up?

4. It is absolutely no fun. How much can I really be enjoying life if I’m marinating in a place of self-doubt and shame? No kid ever says, “Remember how much fun we had with mom at the beach when she hid under a towel and refused to join us in the water? She really felt fat. It was great.”

What happened that summer?

So, that summer seven years ago I made a public promise on my blog to keep my mouth shut about my swimsuit insecurities. And I issued the challenge I’d like to re-issue today. And I stuck to it. It was painful at first. I was mortified by how much my body had changed over the years and I felt sure everyone was staring at me.

And then I played in the waves. I buried my daughter in the sand. We collected shells along the beach and I kept my mouth shut about my thighs. By the end of the week, I was comfortable in my skin and I was happy. I connected with people in a way I don’t normally let myself connect when I’m so insecure and exposed. It was a beautiful thing.

This past year my weight’s been creeping back up. And summer is here. I’ve been dreading it. But it doesn’t have to be dreadful. Will you do me a favor and join me once again?

The Swimsuit Challenge

Please commit with me this summer to not flinch, cringe, make faces, or put down your body verbally when wearing a swimsuit. Wear it with pride. Have fun in the water with your kids. Remember that the people who you have the most fun with are not the ones who constantly rip on themselves.

People who constantly tug at their clothes and cover up and talk about their body insecurities become the ones whose body imperfections everyone notices. Because they constantly advertise them. Don’t be that person. Get your confidence on.

Being a confident woman is within our reach! Check out these other inspirational posts  that will encourage us to embrace who we are and be our very best selves:

Just the other morning as I pulled myself out of bed, painfully aware of aches that didn’t used to be there and joints that didn’t used to crack, I thought back to my 20s and how carefree those days were. Ahh, your 20s, when adult life meant sleeping in until you woke up naturally instead of having little fingers poke you in the nostrils. Your body was tight and springy, ready to break it down when a hot beat dropped or explode over a massive ski jump. Now only a decade later, the mere thought of doing those activities sends my muscles and joints sulking, their tail between their legs.

Your 20s were the bomb diggity. But if I could take what I know now and hop in a time machine, I’d drop by my 20-year-old self’s college apartment with two smoothies in hand and say, “Girl, we gotta talk.”

6 Things I Wish I Could Tell My 20-Year-Old Self

1. Take better care of your skin.

All of those days of sun worship are going to come back to haunt you in the form of wrinkles and sun spots. Sure your bronzed skin looks amazing now, but fast-forward ten years and you’ve got to worry about expensive anti-aging products, dermatologist visits, and skin that looks old and rough.

Wear sunscreen now. Just do it. Believe me, your future self will thank you for it.

2. Start healthy habits now.

I know it feels incredible to pull all-nighters and hit up the all-you-can-eat pizza buffet now. It’s amazing how pounding all that junk food and soda does absolutely nothing to your figure! You must be immune to calories or something!

Well, hate to break it to you, but that type of lifestyle is not going to fly much longer. In fact, that lifestyle will invoice you a heap of problems in the future, like heart disease, insomnia, clogged arteries, and a permanent life preserver around your tummy.

Start healthy habits now. Jog, go to the gym, discover kale, and learn how to moderate your eating habits. If you make your health a priority now, it will remain a priority your whole life.

3. Those boys you think are so cool…they all have beer bellies now.

I see you looking at those “cool boys.” The ones with shaggy hair that they sweep to the side with one careless toss of the head. I admit that through 20-year-old eyes, those dudes look alluring as they sit shirtless on their fraternity porches, punching each other and cat-calling any female who walks by. These are the boys who think life is one big game of beer pong.

Let me give you a look into the future—those boys all have beer bellies now.

20-year-old self, don’t waste a second of your time on boys who don’t respect you. The guys you want to hang out with—the ones who will be admired professionals, kind husbands, and fun dads—those guys are probably in the library studying. I’d start there.

4. Don’t do something you’ll regret later.

I know it sounds like something your parents would say, but hey, I’m finally learning that parents actually do know a thing or two.

It’s okay to live your life, make your own choices, and even make mistakes. That process will help you grow and teach you valuable life lessons. But don’t be reckless as you do it. Calculate your next move, think about the outcomes each choice can bring you. Will you really want that humongous dragon tattoo on your back when you’re older? I’m not here to tell you what to do, but please just think before you do it.

5. Cut up that credit card.

Let’s just say your future self has learned a lesson or two the hard way. I know you’re going to want to apply for that credit card to pay for season ski passes and spring break vacations. But let’s just say that your crystal ball shows a dark and ominous cloud that you won’t be able to get out of if you do.

One day you’ll be mature enough to handle a credit card, but not yet. Instead of buying things you can’t afford or spending money you don’t have, learn to save now while you’re young. Good spending and saving habits now will set you up for a mountain of success in the future.

6. Enjoy your prime…have an adventure or two!

20-year-old self, look at your toned bod; look at your open schedule with days and days to fill with whatever you want. Go out there and experience life! Have fun and have an adventure or two. Now is the time for you to learn to play the drums, go sky-diving, and jump off sheer cliffs into warm waters below.

The days are coming when you will have a job, children, and responsibilities. There will still be time for fun, but it’s much harder to come by. Experience life to the fullest. Give yourself plenty of memories to look back fondly on.

__

Every phase in life brings something wonderful and we might always find ourselves saying, If only I knew then what I know now…But until Apple creates that time machine, all we can do is live every day the very best we can, filling it with laughter, love, and every now and then—a mistake or two.

At HowDoesShe, we are obsessed with all things diy and we don’t limit ourselves to just crafts. 😉 Making your own diy natural deodorant is super quick, easy, and affordable! But most of all, we love it because it doesn’t contain all the harmful chemicals that traditional deodorants contain. Before we give you the goods on how you can create your own, I want to share a quick list of all the bad junk lurking in your store-bought deodorant.

  1. Parabens – you’ve probably seen and heard lots of info on this nasty hormone disrubtor. It has been linked to breast cancer.
  2. Aluminum Compounds – these block sweat ducts and mimic estrogen (just like parabens do) which has been linked again to breast cancer.
  3. Steareths – this is the product of ethoxylation which causes carcinogens
  4. Silica – a known skin irritant and can contain crystalline quartz which is another cancer-causer.
  5. Triclosan – kills both good and bad bacteria, a skin irritant, also suspected to be linked to cancer.
  6. Talc – may contain asbestiform fibers which is linked to cancer.
  7. Propylene Glycol – considered a neurotoxin which is linked to liver and kidney damage. If used everyday, this chemical can cause damage to your central nervous system, heart and liver.

If that list isn’t the pits (pun intended!)! But, no worries, we have the perfect solution to keep you smelling fresh without all those yucky ingredients going into your system.

And in case you’re wondering, YES it actually works. I have been making my own deodorant for the past 4+ years and I’m a runner (oh, and I have 3 young kids which makes me sweaty pretty much always). I’m currently training for my 3rd half marathon so having deodorant that really works is top on my priority list, especially since my schedule doesn’t allow me to hop in the shower straight after my run. And don’t let the ingredient list overwhelm you….I’ve never purchased and used beeswax until I started making my own deodorant. I pinky promise if you can make mac and cheese from a box, you are capable of making your own deodorant. And feel free to change up the essential oil in the recipe. I’ve done everything from lemon to lime to rosemary to orange. Lavender is my all time favorite one to use but try several out for yourself and see what you like best!

Here’s what you’ll need:

Start my melting your beeswax in a double broiler, stirring constantly. I’m resisting the urge to be punny and say “mind your beeswax”. haha!

When beeswax starts melting, add in the coconut oil and stir.

Once the beeswax and coconut oil are in a liquid state, add shea butter and stir to melt.

Remove from heat and whisk in the arrowroot powder.

Add in baking soda and continue to whisk.

Lastly, add in your essential oil of choice (I did lavender for this batch)

Scrap sides. The consistency should be similar to mashed potatoes.

Grab your deodorant container and spoon in mixture.

This recipe is enough for two 4 oz deodorants.

Stick in the fridge or let sit overnight to harden.

After 30 minutes in the fridge, mine was ready to roll, literally!

And that’s it! Diy natural deodorant that’s super fast and easy and CHEAP! You can reuse your deodorant container over and over again.

And depending on your preference, you can also use a jelly jar for your deodorant.

Want to learn more about essential oils but don’t know where to start? This post can break it down for you. We highly recommend you start with the premium starter kit – it includes all the basic oils to get you started off right. We love Young Living oils and after much research, it’s the only brand we trust for our families. Did you know that Young Living is the ONLY brand of oils that allow people to visit their farms and even partake in the harvesting?! How neat is that! No other essential oil company will let you visit their farms. This was a no-brainer for me when I was trying to find a pure therapeutic brand of oils to use. I love a transparent company and can trust them which is so VERY important.

We LOVE Young Living and think you will too!

And join in on our essential oils discussion on facebook. We have a closed group just for discussing essential oils and how to use them. Hop over HERE and request to join!

Free printable summer reading kit

The kids are almost out of school, and the dreaded ‘Summer-Mush-Mind‘ is about to set in. {It’s contagious you know} 😉 Well NOT if we have anything to do with it!  HowDoesShe to the rescue. I was literally giddy when I saw what chickabug had designed as our next exclusive printable kit.

What is it?!

The cutest, yet most practical “Summer Reading Star” game. No more Summer-Mush-Mind. How does it work? Well, pictures speak a thousand words, so take a peek.

The Summer Reading Star game was designed to fit kids of all ages (yes that includes you). Simply set an appropriate time goal for your child on their reading “bingo card”, and let the fun begin. They will read in all sorts of magical places to fill in their card. When they hit BINGO, they get a coupon; when they get a complete BLACKOUT (filling every square) they get a golden ticket.Free printable summer reading kitSummer Reading Star PRINTABLESummer Reading Star PRINTABLE

Each time your child finishes a book, they earn a banner piece. They can draw a picture or write a few sentences in the blank space that tells what the book was about. I can’t wait to see my little boy’s banner fill up with his adorable drawings.

When I explained the Summer reading program to him, he RAN to get his favorite hat and started reading. One box checked off his list.

He immediately asked to do another bingo square. Little cutie. I love that he was so excited about being a Summer Reading Star.

I’m seriously thinking about playing along too. I could use a few BINGO coupons…. a massage, a new pair of sunglasses, an hour of alone time…. yes, I think I will play.

*We’ve joined with Minute Maid in spreading their inspiring #doingood campaign that lets parents everywhere know that they are doing better than they think.

Long distance relationships are hard on everyone, but especially parents. I know firsthand how tough it is to be miles and miles away from your family. Sometimes Memphis seems like a million miles away from my parents in Idaho. We rely on a lot of FaceTime, texts, emails, and care packages to get us through.

For over a year now we’ve been working with Minute Maid on a campaign that is very near and dear to my heart. It’s called #doingood and that one phrase has personally helped me to take more notice of all the little things parents—myself included—do every day to pour more love into their families.

Minute Maid knows that what’s true for juice is true for families—when you put good in, you get good out.

When Far Away is Too Far Away

A few weeks ago we introduced you to the awesome concept of the reverse care package. It’s a package kids send their parents to thank them for all of the amazing things they’ve done and to let them know they are #doingood.

As my kids and I put together a “lemony” basket for grandma and grandpa, I couldn’t help but glance out the window and see my next door neighbor and dear friend Liz loading her five children into the car alone.

The Reverse Care Package

Over a year ago, Liz’s husband got relocated from Memphis to Minneapolis for his job. The plan was to let the kids finish the school year, sell the house, and then move the entire family to Minneapolis. But we all know that plans don’t normally go the way we want them to. So for more than 365 days, this sweet family has been managing states apart from their husband and father.

I know it’s been hard on them all.

Sometimes far away is too far away and parents who live a great distance apart from their children or grandchildren get discouraged. Sometimes a sweet care package can make all the difference in the world.

The Reverse Care Package

This year, let a parent or grandparent know that they’re #doingood by sending them a reverse care package. What is a reverse care package? Well, you know all those times your mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, aunt, or uncle sent you a package to cheer you up and let you know you’re loved? Well now it’s time to pay them back!

Put together your own #doingood delivery to brighten up a parent’s day. Especially when you live far apart, even the smallest package can be all the encouragement a parent needs.

Distance is hard on every family, especially when parents suffer from feelings of self-doubt, wondering if they’ve done enough or have done the right thing. Remind them of all the wonderful things–big and small–they’ve done over the years to make a difference.

#doingood Delivery

Some things you can include in your reverse care package include:

  • This FREE Printable Card for Dad–let him know he sparkles!
  • Handwritten notes of love and encouragement.
  • Photos of your family having fun together.
  • Pictures the kids draw.
  • Favorite treats and goodies.
  • Minute Maid Sparkling to let them know they really shine.

Our love goes out to all you parents out there who are doing the long-distance thing. Don’t get discouraged…it will work out.

Imagine their father’s surprise when he walks into his Minneapolis hotel and finds a special care package waiting for him a the front desk. Make a parent’s day; send a reverse care package of your own.

Take a peek at Minute Maid’s newest #doingood video (it’s an emotional one!) and head to MinuteMaid.com to find even more ways to remind all parents they are #doingood.

You could also win a magical Walt Disney World vacation from Minute Maid by visiting minuteman.com/doingood for details!

*This post is sponsored by Speed Queen, the global leader in luxury washers and dryers that will make your job at home so much easier! Don’t miss the giveaway at the bottom of this post for your chance to win a Speed Queen top-load washer and dryer!

If there’s one thing you can count on being there for you every day, it’s your laundry.

With the number of loads your washer and dryer churn out day after day, it’s important to choose quality machines that will last. Good American-built laundry equipment made with metal parts instead of plastic. A washer and dryer built to do 25 years worth of laundry in the average home.

Speed Queen Washers and Dryers: Commercial Quality for Your Home

Alliance Laundry Systems is the leading global provider of commercial laundry equipment and the same commercial quality washers and dryers you’ll find in laundromats, hotels, and hospitals all over the world are available for your home with their Speed Queen Laundry Brand.

The first Speed Queen laundry machine was built in Ripon, Wisconsin and every washer and dryer has been built there ever since. With a population of only 8,000 people, the Speed Queen headquarters is the epitome of “small town U.S.A”

They produce American quality machines made with American pride.

Women’s Choice Award

We put a lot of stock in what other women think. That’s why when Speed Queen was voted #1 as America’s most recommended luxury washer and dryer for four years in a row by WOMEN, we started listening.

The Speed Queen story is pretty incredible. It dates back to 1908 when the inventors used high quality nickel copper tubs prior to switching over to the commercial grade stainless steel that is still used today!

Luxury Washers and Dryers

What makes Speed Queen so unique is that their washers and dryers made for home use are the same machines used in commercial settings like laundromats, hotels, and hospitals.

You get the luxury of commercial appliances in the comfort of your own home. And these machines are built to last! Speed Queen invests in the quality and durability of their machines more than the bells and whistles. This results in washers and dryers built and tested to last 10,400 cycles. That equates to 25 years worth of laundry in your home! And Speed Queen backs it up with an industry best warranty covering parts and in-home labor.

Other competitor machines typically last 5-7 years. Now that’s what my grandpa would call a no-brainer.

Where To Buy

You won’t find Speed Queen washers and dryers in a big box retail store, but instead through independent dealers. You can find your your local Speed Queen dealer by entering your zip code here.

This way you’re buying from trusted professionals who typically service what they sell.

Good for Your Clothes

Speed Queen washing machines are dedicated to giving you an impeccable clean while also protecting your clothing.

Each washer and dryer is designed with a smooth stainless steel wash tub which is easier on your clothing. Speed Queen top load washers use an agitator to gently yet effectively wash your clothes while protecting them. Speed Queen front load washers cascade water through the entire load, making sure all items are washed evenly.

$2,000 Value Giveaway

Don’t miss this exciting chance to win your own commercial-grade Speed Queen top load washer and dryer!

Enter for your chance to win here!

With all of the soccer jerseys, grass-stained pants, and dirty clothes you wash during your week, you deserve luxury machines that will last. Find your nearest Speed Queen retailer and learn for yourself why women all over America recommend them to their girlfriends.

Who are we kidding? Girlfriends don’t really need a reason to get together, but babies, books, and celebrating the beginning of summer are all excellent excuses for hosting a delightful dessert night in.

Like me, you probably have a tribe of girls who love to get together to chat and share a sweet treat. My girlfriends and I circle up once a month and call it “book club.” It’s what we tell our husbands to lead them to believe we are enriching our lives through literary analysis and deep thinking. Righhht…

Hey honey, you got the kids tonight…I’ve got book club.

Works every time. And we all know that “book club” is really just code for a girls’ night in. Moms show up in minivans, desserts come out, and secrets are spilled.

We laugh, eat, and talk about everything under the sun, from the tricks our babies are doing, to fashion trends and the latest celeb gossip. Sure we talk about a book for 15 minutes, but pretty soon three hours flies by and we’ve barely batted an eye. One has to wonder: How does that happen?

I’ll tell you how—good friends and delicious desserts.

Girls’ Dessert Night

This summer, EDWARDS® is totally owning dessert night with their beautiful pre-made pies that are impressive to look at, easy to serve, and so yummy to eat. EDWARDS® Desserts are Mmm, perfecto! Bring your A-game and a few Edwards pies to your next girls’ night in and you’ll have a raging success.

Why slave away in the kitchen over complicated recipes when you can show up with EDWARDS® Desserts that totally steal the show?

These patisserie-style pies come topped with gorgeous peaks of whipped cream and chocolate drizzles. They could come straight out of a magazine.

Delve into the EDWARDS® Key Lime Pie and savor the creamy tart and sweet flavors. The Edwards EDWARDS® Turtle Pie has layers of luscious chocolate and caramel with a sprinkling of pecans all on top of a cookie crumb crust. Chocolate lovers will adore the EDWARDS® HERSHEY’S* Chocolate Crème Pie and its layers of velvety chocolate, cream, and a chocolate cookie crust. These desserts look gorgeous at any party and taste so delicious your guests will be licking every last crumb from their plates.

I have to admit, there is an unspoken competition when it’s your turn to host book club. Each of us wants to come up with a real show-stopper that will inevitably cause Oohs and Ahhs. EDWARDS® Desserts have hands-down won the prize for the most impressive treat.

Bring the Sweet

With several delicious varieties to choose from, summertime fun ramps up even more when you serve EDWARDS® Desserts. Each Edwards pie is rich and decadent. What vaults them above all other desserts are their velvety layers and crushed cookie crust.

Did you make this?” one of my girlfriends asked incredulously.

Nope girl, I scored big and bought it at my local grocery store. Less time in the kitchen, more time for party prepping.

Find your local retailer and bring the Sweet this summer by serving EDWARDS®—the delectable desserts that look as amazing as they taste, with layers of creamy deliciousness and a crunchy cookie crust. Girl, you’ll own your next girls’ night, get-together, or summer barbecue!
